The Reef House is a gathering place for the community. Expats and locals come and go throughout the day and evening. You are immediately included in the family of staff, visitors and locals. The owner and manager make you feel welcome. The ladies in the kitchen cook great food. The man-made saltwater pool is a great place to relax on a floaty or snorkel. Night snorkeling was amazing.
You can also swim out off the dock and snorkel the reef. Itâs a beautiful spot away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist side of the island. The people and the beauty make up for the amenities that may be lacking for some. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable, but itâs quite rustic and bare bones. A/C worked great.
My stay at the Reef House was exactly what I wanted. It has the old Roatan charm to an old dive shop that has the most welcoming staff I have ever met. From the owner Davey to Keith the IT/Bartender and the friendliest cook staff that makes great down home cooking. David the dive master has been out on the reef longer than most have known about Roatan. He knows some really cool places to see.
