Great little hideaway out in the country.

We were recommended this place by a local relative as we were attending a funeral at the hall just 5 minutes away down the road. Turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Only knock is that breakfast wasn’t available in the restaurant as it opens at 11 AM. There was also an issue with Expedia and the motel management regarding double bookings as some of our relatives thought they had reservations only to find out they didn’t and had to make last minute alternate arrangements.

so sorry for the botch up on reservations for Grant's funeral Bob. Was taken unprepared due to sudden bookings in mid March, usually not a busy time for us. No excuses, just bad performance on my part. Grant was a great guy and personal friend, so sorry to hear of his passing.

Hidden gem with a sprig of bluegrass.....

Posted Mar. 21, 2018 on Hotels
Really nice cabins, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the restaurant wasn't open for breakfast so I had to head into Rocky for that :( but I should have planned better and brought something to eat in the room since it has a little kitchenette. Had the Grandview burger - fantastic!- for supper one night. As I was finishing up, a couple of local fellows brought in some musical instruments and I found out it was open mike night. More and more people kept arriving and the music was incredible! I stayed up as long as I could to enjoy the scene and finally had to pack it in, even thought they showed no sign of quitting - people as far away as Calgary came to listen and play. Apparently this is a weekly event here - so if you like old tyme country music with some bluegrass, blues and pop country with a couple original songs thrown in....get a cabin, have a supper and a listen and a few beers. I'll be back - that's for sure. **Had perogy poutine as a warmup one afternoon - it too, was a yummy treat.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay here and also the music. We've been at it for 15 years now and lots of the folks you heard play started out sounding a whole lot different then! Amazing what playing in front of people does for your confidence, so thanks to folks like you for attending, wouldn't happen without you!

My wife and I love this place. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Beautiful country area, near Cow Lake Recreational Area. Restaurant is outstanding. Great place for a ''retreat'' away from the city.

A great cabin experience

Posted Feb. 2, 2018 on Expedia
This is a Cabin experience outside of the city but they have a restaurant and gas station and convenience store. if you like the cabin experience with all the amenities of being 15 minutes from a city, then you will probably like this place!

Worth it

Posted May 15, 2017 on Hotels
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. The cabin was really cute and the surrounding area is gorgeous. We followed the highway further up and saw a herd of wild horses! Some notes... The room wasn't filthy but it wasn't the cleanest. Visible dirt in the corners of the room and the duvet cover being a dark brown that could easily hide stains kind of icked me out. The tv had loose hanging cables down the wall. We had our not yet mobile baby with us so it wasn't an issue but if she was much older it would have been a safety hazard. Bad water pressure. Wi-Fi is super unreliable. The restaurant is FANTASTIC. We brought food but ended up eating many meals there. Their desserts are delicious. It was worth the price for sure. I already plan to go back once this year at least.

An all right cabin, but nothing special.

What I liked: Close to Rocky Mtn. House where we had to be, but still out of town. Not liked: Not enough pots and pans. Very few channels activated on the dish. No coffee filters. No complimentary coffee. Terrible shower head.

A Great City Escape - Quiet and Relaxing

Posted Jan. 16, 2017 on Hotels
We went to Rocky Mountain House for a weekend getaway and desperately wanted to stay in anything but a hotel. I read previous reviews, some not so good, but I can absolutely say that those reviews are COMPLETELY FALSE. This cabin was absolutely adorable, very western themed and the bed was extremely comfortable. The amenities in the room were a mini fridge, microwave, stovetop, sink and dishes. Don't expect fine china if you're staying because the idea is that it's a cabin so you'll most likely have mason jar type glasses which really added to the atmosphere. The bathtub/shower combo was a deep tub so it was perfect for a relaxing bath and some wine in my mason jar glass :) We did have some issues with checking in, and had to be moved to a different cabin a couple of times, and a small issue ordering food from the restaurant, however, the manager visited us at breakfast upon our check out, gave us a complimentary meal and invited us back for a complimentary night (which we will use and will stay more than one night for sure). Overall, probably one of the best customer service experiences I have ever had to date. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was worthwhile. I would absolutely recommend staying here, and we will definitely be back. It's so secluded and quiet - a great break from the city!
