Character Country Retreat with no contact check in/out, in historic 1066 country
With self check in and check out and situated in the ownersâ 2 acre grounds which includes an orchard that guests can enjoy on their own, this attractive beamed, spacious detached character property is perfect for a relaxing break. The property is accessed via its own external oak open tread stairs. We have fibre broadband with the Little Brook WiFi router connected directly to it. It is wonderfully finished with a recently refurbished balcony off the living area affording countryside views and conveniently set back from the A28. There are many country walks directly from the property, several fine pubs are within a 5 - 15 minute drive and beaches are around a 20 minute drive away. Around 20 minutes to Battle, with its famous battlefield and abbey, built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Relive one of the most famous days in history, and join the 1066 walk. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Tenterden, also known as âThe Jewel of the Wealdâ, through the Rother Levels to Bodiam, one of the most evocative moated castles (National Trust), built in 1385. Discover the one time coastal smuggling town of Hastings and medieval Cinque Port town of Rye just 8 miles away with its cobbled streets. Picturesque sand dunes and interesting wildlife can be explored at Camber Sands around 30 minutes away.
We spent a very comfortable and cosy getaway at Little Brook. The property is ideally located for visiting Rye, Hastings, Winchelsea and as keen gardeners, Great Dixter House & Gardens.
Comfortable bed. Very friendly dogs. Perfect location for our plans. We didn't meet the owners as they were away, but their house sitter was very pleasant.
Pleasant place to stay, roomy for 2 people. Kitchen not particularly well equipped for guests like us who cook in.Road traffic noise somewhat intrusive but we live in a very quiet place.Friendly owners.Locked gate entrance a bit of a pain but not a deal breaker.Excellent location for visiting gardens.
The property was very clean and tidy. Everything was excellent about the property. Looked out of the French doors on Christmas Eve and the field it looks out on had a herd of reindeerâs running around in it , how festive. Will book this property again, Many Thanks , Wendy& Peter
A good base to explore East Sussex. A very spacious sitting room / bedroom with a separate kitchen & shower room. We enjoyed visiting Rye, Tenterden & Bodiam Castle.
Property absolutely fantastic. Bed just amazing. Comfortable sofas. Loved everything about the place. Great to seat outside on the balcony. Host just fabulous xâ€ïžđč
This is a lovely place to stay in a beautiful area. All that it looks to be on the website it is. The only thing worth foregrounding (though the website is actually clear about this) is that the property is located in the middle of the owners' property, opposite their house, so if you want complete rural isolation, you're not going to get that. But the owners are friendly and very much keep to themselves if you don't want to chat. This is typical of the consideration they show in the upkeep of such a nice place to stay--which in all other respects is quiet with a lovely spacious garden to sit in and relax on your own and undisturbed--so in that resepct you absolutely do feel you are in the heart of the countryside.
Little Brook is the perfect place if you are after a peaceful few days away from the hustle and bustle of life. We did not meet the owners as they were away but the dog/house sitter, Brian was extremely helpful and welcoming, the 3 dogs were so friendly and funny. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you would need and very clean. It is decorated lovely with extra thick curtains and blinds and the bed was extremely comfortable . The gardens and orchard were lovely to walk around and take in all the lovely plants. It was so nice to sit out on the balcony in the evening and listen to the different birds and watch the sheep in the adjacent field. There is so much to do and see and in our 3 days we had here, we explored Rye, Dungeness, Hastings and Battle as well as a couple of the many farm shops near by. We would love to visit again and would definitely recommend it, thank you.
Perfect out of the way, spacious but cosy property. Even though the weather was incredibly wet and windy, we had a lovely few days- combination of slobbing comfortably and visiting local places of interest!
