Near Aubeterre,Peaceful Cottage With Lovely Views and Pool in the Dordogne
Pretty little cottage/gite in old farmhouse with 2 bedrooms, shower room and open plan living room and kitchen. Rural and peaceful, but only 10mins from the riverside beaches of Aubeterre, St Aulaye and Lake La Jemaye, and their various restaurants and watersports. Within an hour of the world famous cognac distillery, and the world heritage site of St Emillion, for its famous wines. There is also a golf course with in easy reach of the cottage.
Everything about this property was just as described. It had a comfortable cottagey feel about it, beautiful decoration, and the kitchen was very well equipped with no lack of crockery, cutlery or cooking utensils. The weather was mixed during our stay but having the pool on the hot days was a real bonus. Being able to receive British TV channels was also great. We spent a very peaceful week in the area and thoroughly enjoyed being out in the middle of the countryside. Elizabeth and Findlay were great hosts, very discreet but available whenever needed. I can definitely recommend this place.
We had a great stay, the location was just right for us and only a short drive for all your needs. The gite was well presented Beth and Finlay were on hand if needed for help and advise. We intend to return later in the year
After a very disappointing stay in another HomeAway property it was wonderful to arrive to a very warm welcome at Beth & Findlay's lovely little cottage. The welcome pack is a lovely touch, and the cottage is very well thought out and well equipped. You do need to drive everywhere as there are no shops or restaurants within walking distance, but as long as you're happy with that then this place is a dream. The pool is positioned wonderfully overlooking the fields, but at times was not overly inviting as it was cloudy and we did have to keep clearing leaves and dead flies. As far as we're concerned that's the only area where there is a little room for improvement, as everything else was just lovely.
We spent a lovely, comfortable 3 night stay in this pretty little cottage whilst house hunting in the area. Beth made us very welcome supplying us with everything we needed - we can't wait to return!
