Pros: Great location with easy access to the Gaslamp Quarter, Petco Park, and even Little Italy if you don't mind walking. The views from the building are excellent, the apartment was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the amenities (pool, gym, basketball court, and pickleball court) were well maintained. Of course, the San Diego weather was fantastic.Cons: The check-in experience wasn't great. We arrived early and politely asked if early check-in was possible. Instead of a simple yes or no, we received a long list of rules and fees. After asking again, we were told we could not enter until exactly 3:00. At 3:00 we received the code, but the apartment was hot and had clearly been empty for hours. The elevator area also had a strong odor that smelled like trash and dog urine. The portable A/C units in the bedrooms were duct-taped around the exhaust, and when the wind blew they made a loud, high-pitched whistling noise that made sleeping difficult. Finally, be aware that downtown San Diego has a very large homeless population. Walking to the baseball game we saw people passed out, open drug use, human waste on the sidewalks, and aggressive behavior. Not the host's fault, but something families with children should consider
