Very comfy.

It was easy to check-in and out. Each dorm had unique codes. The beds have black wall covers, a light, shelf, and 2 plug-in sockets. You also get a locker. The showers are in one room, but all divided. There is a fridge/freezer and microwave. Food gets crowded. It's clean and functional. In nice area and very close to grocery stores and transport.

Great stay! I had the private cabin to myself so it was pretty quiet. Everything was also very clean and the staff were very friendly. It’s also very close to many restaurants and able to walk to bus stop close by.

I've marked service low because all of my interactions were via whatsapp - the only staff I encountered were the cleaning staff, who were on deck through the day. Very comfortable bed, good wife, very clean bathrooms and showers (which had plenty of room). The social space was a bit small, and most nights had a fellow holding forth on his political views.

We did not realize this was a hostel when booking through hotels.com. When we arrived, the proprietors tried to put us in a different room than we booked online. We had agree to a private room for two people based on a picture (again not knowing this was a hostel, not a hotel), but they wanted tp put us in a room with two inside bedrooms that each slept two people, There was no privacy and no way to keep belongings safe. When we complained, they "upgraded" us to the room we had booked, which was a two person full bed and no shared sleeping. Had I known this would happen, I would not have booked this room. I get that a hostel is a typical shared room, and I have stayed in many hostels, but I thought (based on what I had seen on the web site) that this was a hotel, not a hostel. Other than the initial bait and switch, the staff were friendly and helpful. Don't expect coffee, but at least they provided towels.

If you are desperate for a coffin hotel...

The 'work' space was a counter in a hallway with three stations shared by 30+ people. The 'living room' was six chairs and a tv and absolutely nothing else, also shared by 30+ people

Well run hostel with nice staff , for a hostel.its a nice property. My sheets had long womens hair and stains. Check out time is too early at 10am . With hotels i check out at 12 . If you're on a budget its a good hostel but i prefer hotel , so it will be my last hostel .

I'm not into hostels , but this hostel the chapter is the exception. I stay here all the time , the private room at a low price makes it feel im staying in a hotel . The super kind young women who i think her bame us megen from again i think is south Africa is the best , spent so much time with the process if how to check in .

This property can’t decide what it wants to be. Some of the staff are friendly and effective, while others are difficult, and borderline counter-productive. At times I enjoyed it and other times I didn’t. Some parts are well designed while others need a redo. Have the stuff works great, the other half barely. I wish I had better things to say but it’s like a mediocre boy/girlfriend. Best to leave early and warn others to avoid unless they want to spend hours agonizing over the potential.

Great location, walkable, and there’s enough transport to get around the city. There’s many food spots, cafes, grocery stores, and a pharmacy within 10 minutes walking distance. Facilities were clean and well maintained and staff was responsive. Communication is done through text and the doors use codes instead of keys. Tip: put your lock codes on your home screen of your phone so you don’t have to search through the text messages. Overall, a great experience and the guests I stayed with all were respectful. Definitely recommend for solo travelers who want a safe place that’s in a good location in the city.

Even before I arrived, I was so impressed by the customer service. The check-in was easy and accommodating. The facility was so clean, and everyone I interacted with was very pleasant. The hostel is located in a very convenient area. I was able to walk to many different locations, or take a short ride on the train/cab. I wish I had been able to stay longer! The next time I visit, I'll be staying at Chapter SF again for sure.
