The bungalow were in was partially under a tree and ut rained constantly for 18 hours. The constant water falling off the tree onto the roof was so LOUD,it made it impossible to hear each other talk. Sleep was impossible!. We planned a 3 night stay, but had leave after the first night. The bungalow was poorly designed with very poor lighting.
We felt very welcome!
Lovely big garden - we saw many bird species and coatis, and heard howling monkeys.
The view from the room was very peaceful and the breakfast generous.
Less able people should not visit as the plot is very steep. Wifi is poor or non-existent from the room but ok in the breakfast area
A worthwhile visit 1.5 hours away: the Maquenque Eco Lodge grounds - guided tour 25 usd. Paradise on earth.
I love the surrounding nature except the lake was dirty and almost dry, they said there was a trail to the river none of the trail got us to the river, I was really disappointed that this place was in such bad conditions I had to ask to have the bathroom light changed otherwise we had to go in the dark, we lost Wi-Fi untill I had to ask for it to be repaired, the pool in the room was super cold and no way to warm up. The main pool was great but all the seat in the pool were broken and even found the nails in the pool, at night the lights were about to give like a hunted house off and on. The manager that let us in wS very nice but told us to just to deal without light in the restroom and when I needed help but could not fine her I had to csll her from the neighbor phone for help with the wifi which THANK GOD her husband answer and help us and even call a technician to chain the light bulb. The next day I call about the free breakfast which she said it was not included but when I told her I would rate them on this application , she later call me to change her answer that it was included. What I like more was the girls that made us breakfast super nice and delicious breakfast.
Property was beautiful. Rooms felt like secluded cabins with lots of wildlife around. Breakfast was delicious and loved overlooking the hillsides in the morning. Shower was warm; bed was comfortable; staff were very friendly and helpful-gave great dinner recommendations in town.
This spot was perfect for our first night flying into Costa Rica. The staff speaks minimal English but were very friendly and accommodating. Google Translate filled in the gaps, and honestly, it should be our responsibility as travelers in another country to know their language. We stayed in the family cabin which is very simple. It did not have the pretty glass encased bedroom on the website, but was more than fine for the price. Breakfast was homemade at the time we requested by Marguerite, a lovely, friendly woman. We saw some beautiful birds and indiginous animals on the property. Just be aware that the grounds get very wet and slippery during rainy season. I took a couple tumbles in the mud touring the grounds. We each got one towel. We could have used more. The bathroom floor gets VERY wet even with the shower curtain closed. All in all, good for our family's needs!
I did like the beautiful nature surrounding the property, exotic birds and other animals.
Just to consider, you really need to be able to walk a long way of steps.
Wow what a great place Our experience starts by a welcome message and an email with check in details
When we got there we were greeted by the staff who showed us around on our way to our cabin
The place is really quiet and we saw many animals within the property Birds of pray, humming birds, agouti, blue jeans frog and many more
Canât wait to come back
Our experience was fabulous at Epic Adventure Lodge. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The facility had many great amenities, such as a soccer field, where my boyfriend got to practice with one of the staff. I highly recommend this place. Thank you for the hospitality.
We loved our epic adventure stay of two nights with beautiful and private facilities, incredible vistas, and kind and friendly service. Its just off the road, but quiet. A great place to stay outside of San Jose with easy access to Hacienda Alsalcia coffee tour, Dave and Dave's Nature Center, Sarapiqui, Poaz Volcano, and La Paz Waterfall. After a hot day, we found the solar-pool to be refreshing. The little town of San Miguel was so welcoming too! We had a great suggestion from our host to go to historic but humble Restaurant Gallita where we had typical beer, tapas, and a full bbq meal. George - a young entrepreneur at the restaurant who was born and raised i. San Miguel - spoke excellent English and shared many interesting stories of the area. We really enjoyed our stay.
