We enjoyed our time at Royal Sonesta. The staff was friendly and professional. Our room cleaning person, Hilton, was really good, he arranged the pillows differently every time with my daughter's stuffed dragon. It was very cute and brought a smile to our faces! We were on the 12th floor with amazing views. There's a small balcony you can stand on and look out, or sit by. The pools and grounds are very clean. The staff here is efficient and friendly. The beach has an umbrella and chair service which is part of the resort amenities. We had food and drinks during the happy hour in the lobby restaurant, I liked that they had some items for less $ every evening from 5-7. The beach is beautiful, but it was not safe to swim during the time we were there, too windy. But we still enjoyed the beach and sand.we got a breakfast buffet, which had an omelet station, fruits, pastries, etc. it was pretty good, with good fruit variety. The little coffee shop has excellent coffee and sandwiches. The food at the hotel and in San Juan is expensive, but we did not venture out too far. Overall we had a great time. I recommend this hotel.

Unfortunately, my stay was very disappointing. Most of the staff were dismissive and rude, with the exception of the bellman, Williams, who was kind and professional. The resort itself feels run-down and not well maintained. For the price point, I expected much better. The cocktails were overpriced and tasted like they were made with cheap, overly sugary syrup. The only real positive is the location — it’s convenient and beautiful. Otherwise, I would not recommend staying here.

Our room was perfect. Clean as could be. Great City View to the bridge and mountains. All the staff were always smiling, helpful and genuinely friendly and having a good time. I loved the personal touch to the room by having champagne glasses for us and also a postcard that I did actually use for my Granddaughter :-)

The new key card bracelets worked poorly. Our room was only cleaned once. There were no books or pamphlets on how to order room service, and what the hotel amenities are, It was only once we called down to the main desk were we told we had to go to a special tv channel and scan a QR code.

Everyone was wonderful. Couldn’t ask for a better getaway. Salvatore the manager, Gloria our server on the beach, Mario our beach attendant, Wanda and Jamie our servers at breakfast were outstanding.

Hotel, beach, pools, and restaurants all good - airport is close but you don’t hear jets - just the crashing waves. The area is run down and the town has to give it a major facelift. Go to the nicer El Coronado area a few miles away unless you stay at the hotel the whole time.
