My sister and I stayed here two nights and it was great. Both check in and check out were very quick and convenient. Plus the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Inn is in an old historic building with modern conveniences like renovated rooms and nice bedding. Lots of places outside to sit and enjoy all the neighborhood trees and flowers. Walkable to downtown shops, restaurants and bars. Be sure to stay when there's a concert at the Fremont Theatre. No parking, street or garage.
Itâs a charming, quaint house centrally located downtown. However, it is an old house and has not been properly repurposed with sound insulation as I could hear my next door neighbor snore at night and hear hotel guests laugh and talk loudly downstairs from my room upstairs, and worse, hear the people in the parking lot next to the hotel talk at night. There were no modern conveniences such as a safe or small fridge/mini bar in the room nor an electric kettle to boil water or any drawers for my clothes. There wasnât sufficient space to put away anything. In fact, I was given a different room from the one I booked and there was no one there after I checked in to tell. So I had to contact my travel agency. I was obliged to stay for 2 nights as I couldnât cancel, but I checked out on my last night and stayed at another hotel that was more comfortable. I would say this is not a 4 star boutique hotel.
This is a beautiful property in downtown SLO within walking distance to absolutely everything. There we so many wonderful touches to the B & B and a fantastic, welcoming staff. It was such a pleasure to stay at the Garden Inn!
We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were lovely, the bed was comfortable and the house itaelf very characterful. Two blocks down Garden Street is residential parking where you can park for free overnight which is a bonus too.
This property is very central located in an older property. There is no onsite parking and no elevator. Other than that it was a fine and the staff were very helpful and served a great breakfast.
Upsides: this is a very charming small hotel. Similar to a bed and by, in a great location. Large comfortable rooms.
The downsides: a little noisy, we could hear other guests through the walls. We had a hard timer getting hot water. Especially in The shower.
The place is very nice, we had a bad experience with breakfast, after ordering the only choice and obtaining a number we didnât realise the order was forgotten, we waited patiently and finally asked about the status. The server said she just forgot and said she would be get on it right away. This put us behind schedule for the day.
The Inn is so cute and the rooms very clean but beware, I booked a room with a fireplace option and the fireplace did not work. So call before you book if you want a room with a working fireplace. The staff was excellent and the breakfast in the morning was great.
Everything an inn should be...welcoming staff person, well-appointed rooms, comfy sitting area with fireplace, delicious and unusual breakfast menu. Plus it's walking distance to great restaurants and lovely shops. I will be staying here again, I'm sure.
