The hosts Larry and Linda were beyond gracious. Their level of detail and courtesy were outstanding, and made us feel like we have been best friends for years. They took care of every attention to detail. They were there to greet us when we arrived and making sure everything was to our liking. The home was perfect for our 45th anniversary stay. They had a bottle of wine and freshly baked cookies waiting for us and a celebration balloon. The location and ambience of the home was so relaxing, with a running creek nearby so with the window open at night and the sound of the brook it was like our own slice of heaven. Make sure to check out Larry’s landscape photography in the cabin and in several albums. He is extremely talented. We have stayed at numerous VRBO’s before, and by far this home and especially the hosts were by far the best we have experienced. We would give them 10 stars if we could!

Perfect!

Everything about this cabin was perfect! The location to everything we wanted to see and do could not have been better for our extended visit to the Central Coast. We were able to make several day trips to our favorite spots yet come back to a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the solitude. The waterfall was a pleasant sound outside the screened in porch and the front porch offered entertainment by the local wildlife! Our hosts were so welcoming and accommodating. Everything we needed was provided. The cabin is well stocked and very comfortable. There were plenty of reading materials and information on the SLO area. One of the highlights of our trip was the rocket launch from Vandenberg. Our host Larry kept us informed of the additional launches during our entire stay! Thanks Larry for all of the launch information. Access to beaches, attractions and small towns was great. The Avila Barn Market and Fat Cat’s Cafe were close and convenient. Pismo Beach, Morro Bay and SLO were just a short drive from the Canyon. And of course there was a nice winery right in the neighborhood! We couldn’t have found a nicer place to “come home to!” I highly recommend the cabin if you enjoy nature and a unique travel experience.

Perfect stay in the beautiful countryside near SLO

Everything was perfect with our stay. The directions were great (including a sign with my name at the turnoff to its long driveway). The cabin was rustic but luxurious with comfortable beds and furniture. Loved the outdoor shower and comfortable back porch where you could lounge all day on chaises listening to the relaxing nearby stream and hummingbirds. Couldn’t recommend more highly.

Peaceful retreat

This was such a restful getaway. Our family group was from 3 different areas, and we spent a great deal of our time catching up. When we decided to go out for a beach walk, wine tasting or dinner, Pismo and SLO were close and enjoyable, but walks in the immediate area were lovely, as well. This cozy, lovingly constructed cabin was so comfortable, even the bunkbeds!

A Stunning and Relaxing Cabin Retreat

I booked this cabin for my sister and I to stay while celebrating my 50th birthday. We both needing some much needed peace and relaxation which is exactly what we got on our short weekend stay. The owners, Larry and Linda were very easy to communicate with giving as much detail and heartwarming welcomeness. From the moment we walking onto the property we were in awe of it’s natural beauty, both on site and within the surrounding area. The cabin is so well built with every amenity needed for a weekend stay. The kitchenette served its purpose well, allowing for the majority of our meals to be cooked rather than eating out. There was plenty of dishes, cookeware and coffee. There was even a beautiful bowl of apples and plenty of bottled water waiting for us. The temperature was comfortable, as was the bedding, towls and water pressure. The wifi worked perfectly as well. My favorite spots were: the front porch to drink my morning coffee and rock to the sound of the birds chirping and bees buzzing. The purple wisteria was so fragrant..and the back enclosed patio which looked out to mature shade trees and running spring. The sound of the water, the relaxing on the lounge chairs was complete zen. We wished we could have stayed longer but alas we had to return to the real world. I hope to make another trip back in the near future. Thank you for your hospitality and kindness!!

Surrounded by natural beauty

The cottage is wonderful! I especially enjoy the back deck. I spent several hours reading while listening to the creek and the birds. Many hummingbirds stopped by the feeder, and I saw some quail as well. There were also deer and wild turkey in the canyon. The sights and sounds are wonderful, and the air is very fresh.

Perfection

We recently stayed at the cabin, and I cannot emphasize how amazing it was. It was meticulously clean, but not so much that you felt like you couldn’t touch anything. The decor was perfect. The outdoor screened in porch is my favorite place, just sitting out there listening to the stream and watching hummingbirds come to the feeder. The front garden was so beautiful and wild yet well-maintained at the same time. We wanted to try the outdoor shower but honestly the indoor shower was so amazing that I never got around to going to the outside one. Having stayed in many vacation rentals, I would say that this was the best. The amenities in the kitchen left us wanting for nothing, truly above and beyond. The king size bed was extremely comfortable and my teenager loved the bunkbed in her room. The owners were the kindest I’ve ever met and checked in on us via text. They also had a sweet little dog that came to visit once. I also enjoyed the site of deer in the late afternoon and early morning. It was also very short drive to Avila and San Luis. There were also a few personal touches specifically for us, but I would not want to ruin the surprise for the next visitors so I will not specify what they were :-). If you are looking to get away from it all, but still be close enough to go out for a coffee or dinner, this is a place for you.

Hidden Gem

Could not ask for a better 1st time hosting experience. Every part of our stay, property and cabin itself exceeded our expectations by far. The owner who were onsite were kind and extremely generous making our stay more memorable. The cabin is right out of a story book, including a stream that runs right behind the screened in back porch. The cabin is spotless and has everything you could possibly need incase you forget to pack something. The bed is so comfortable you will not want to get out of it in the morning. Especially if you have the gas fireplace that faces the bed on. One of my favorite things to do was use the outdoor shower... could not get enough. The location was the cherry on top... everything you could possibly want to do was just a short scenic car ride away... and there is plenty to do. This is a must do if your lucky enough to be reading this....

A little piece of paradise.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at this cabin, beautifully nestled between two hills. The garden was a sight to behold, making us feel as if we had discovered a little slice of paradise. Every night, I found solace sleeping in the screened-in porch, serenaded by the gentle sounds of the stream nearby. The cabin's design was aesthetically pleasing, with meticulous attention to detail evident in every corner, ensuring a memorable stay. Our children had a fantastic time exploring the property and its surroundings, encountering wildlife in a safe and secure environment. The host was exceptionally responsive and incredibly helpful throughout our stay, adding to the overall positive experience. This stay was the epitome of relaxation. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat.

Not sure I'd call it a cabin

This place is technically a cabin because it's made of wood but that's about as far as it goes. You won't be cold, as the heating is plentiful. You won't get dirty, everything is spotless. You won't get bug bites, everything is tightly screened. You won't be limited to three minutes of lukewarm water in the shower, there is a true tankless water heater. You won't have to squint in the dark, the lighting is plentiful and professional. I can't say it's much like most short term rentals either. There is no notice of creepy external cameras; no requirement to lug your trash a half mile to the curb; no instructions to strip your bed or sweep the floor when leaving. It's a quiet property as one would expect but otherwise the only requirements are using the cutting board and not smoking. Hosts were incredibly accessible but not invasive. I'm very familiar with this area and can attest See Canyon is better located for access to many places than the city of SLO itself. Avila, Shell Beach and Pismo Beach are all closer. If you want to be closer to Paso Robles stay in town, otherwise stay here. The only thing this place is missing is my relatives in town. They are great but have a lot more energy than I am used to. :)

Great Stay

As all of the other reviews confirm, this was an excellent stay in a wonderful spot, managed by terrific people. Inside the cabin, everything was carefully considered and thought out. Everything one would want was there. Sitting each evening on the patio and watching deer and the neighborhood bobcat pass by was just an extra plus. Quiet, and peaceful, with respectful owners that were attentive, yet never present. Our single regret is that we did not find this earlier during our many previous visits to San Luis Obispo. For sure, we’ll be back.
