Amazing villa indoors and out. Beautiful Maya tapestries adorned furniture and walls. All beds were comfortable. Kitchen was wonderfully appointed. The large dining room table was perfect for our evening card games. Outdoor patio and upper terrace, with plenty of seating, allowed for viewing the volcanoes and lake and the marvelously landscaped yard and gardens. Some in our group swam every morning in the lake. It was a 5-minute walk from the private dock to the house and was also close to the public dock which was convenient when hiring a lancha (water taxi) to the other villages. When we continued walking beyond the back of the house, the steep trail led to the upper Maya village where we enjoyed lunch at CafĂ© Sabor Cruceno with gorgeous views of the lake and the localsâ houses on the mountain. The food, cooked by graduates of the CECAP culinary school, was phenomenal and beautifully presented. (For dessert, be sure to try the chocolate plantain mole). You can also hire a tuk-tuk at the public dock to take you up to the village if you donât want to hike up the mountain. Owners were exceptionally helpful before our arrival and during our stay when we had questions. We heartfully recommend this wonderful place.
