Kawa is an incredible place to stay. The views are breathtaking, the hot tub is a great addition. The food is very good and you can tell the staff really care - everyone we encountered wanted everything to be just right.
I stayed in a private room which was basic but has everything you need. Views from the room were amazing, its a decent size and bathroom is spacious. The social areas (pool and restaurant) can get a bit busy. But they are very lovely. Its very remote. You stay at the casas you have the optiom to do a waterfall tour, highly recommended.
This property is unique in regards to its situation and it has a great setting; position of rooms, pool, dining area, ... . But it is very difficult to access and you would be limited to food, drink, and tours offered by the property.
This is a beautiful hostel, i thought it was a hotel. I wasn't aware that you had to drive on a rough road up the mountain, i found out 2hrs before we got our car rental. They do provide transportation but we found out last minute. The food at restaurant was really good and the service is great. The beds are hard but not an issue for me.
We enjoyed the stay and beautiful surroundings and will likely return in the future. As a hostel, amenities and room service in the private rooms are not to be expected.
The staff was terrific and very friendly.
Two improvements would significantly improve the customer experience, especially when the hostel is operating at full capacity (which was the case during our multiple day visit):
1) There was little adherence to posted rules.
Smoking in the eating area and other posted areas was common throughout our visit. The staff had not been properly trained to correct the situation.
Asking to shower before entering the pool was ignored (although we did see two people shower beforehand). Correcting these well posted rules and a couple of other minor infractions are very easily corrected will improve the customer experience for everyone.
2) I find that the practice of inviting a fairly large group of "day-use" students to be a bit off putting. The hostel was at full capacity and didn't need more high energy people pretty much taking over the pool and food service.
Certainly, the staff, facilities, and location makes up for a some of these deficiencies.
A really peaceful place to stay with lovely staff, delicious food, stunning views, and a great place to make friends. Definitely a place I would consider going back to. This is the place to go if you wanna get away from it all.
Unfortunately I booked only one night.
This place is paradise and there is a lot of activities to do in the area. (Bird watching, traditional massage, coffee tour, hiking to waterfalls, renting motocross and of course relaxing at the pool).
This hotel is located in the middle of a very nice coffee farm. The best way to get there is buy contacting one of their drivers because you need a 4X4 truck since its 20 min offroad.
If you are planning to go after 5pm, the only way to get there is by contacting their private driver since no one can enter the coffee farm aftee 5pm (there is a private door 10min before the hostel).
I booked a private room so it felt like a 4 stars hotel while enjoying the advantages of a hostel.
In one day we met so many foreigners and locals.
Food was very good, staff were happy and alegre like true colombians.
Totally recommend it - try more at least 2 nights.
Had young energy yet vibe was totally chill. Getting to and from minca is no small task so be prepared to stay at the casa which is fine because they have everything one would need.
