Great location in Seaside and comfortable place to stay for a few days. Furniture and bedding could be updated, and AC was weak upstairs. We would stay here again though!

Don't stay here!

The listing looked great and the location was great. The location was the only reason it got at least one star. It's one block from the beach entrance. That's the only good part of the story. Upon entering the rental, there was a strong musty smell. Found out it was due to the downstairs wall A/C unit dripping on the hardwood floor. Those planks were covered in black mold. The floor molding around the upstairs bathtub/shower was rotted, mushy, and covered in black mold. The wood floor planks next to the tub were likewise covered in black mold. The cloth outer shower curtain had black mold in patches. When we left and pulled back the bed sheets, the bed is covered in discolored spots presumably mold. Glad we didn't see that on the first day. The one couch had multiple stains on the cushions. Nearly all of the blinds were broken in one way or another. The kitchen had 2 spoons, 2 knifes, and 1 fork. There was a coffee pot but no filters. Immediately upon arriving, we notified Vacasa (the property management company) of the strong musty smell but received only a form response welcoming us to the rental. Didn't hear anything else from them until the standard "checkout" email. Terrible waste of money. Don't stay here!

Our team member who stopped by during your visit noted that you did not express your concerns about mold at that time but that you did report the lack of silverware and that has been addressed. Additionally, we apologize for the AC issues and a part has been ordered so it can be repaired. Our local manager assured us that they will be discussing your concerns with the homeowner and they thank you for your feedback. Would not stay again!

The location of the cottage was great! However, the cleanliness was not. The comforter on the bed had a stain. The blinds were filthily, old, and looked as though they had been scratched for the white to come off. I had contacted the property manager a week prior to our stay to ask about the previous reviews of the mold in the shower. I was told that the mold was taken care of. It was not. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom, by the bathtub rotted wood and trim as well. The air conditioning was barely there. We contacted the property manager after our first night there, and they had a technician come out to check it. He said the unit was just "cheesy" and didn't run well, and there was nothing he could do about it. It never cooled off there. There was no where to really hangout at the cottage. The furniture was so small and uncomfortable. I do not think the property is checked on by the manager/managing company as it should be. We will be renting elsewhere next time. I believe remediating the mold, paint, replacing the blinds, replacing the air conditioner, and new furniture, the place could be adorable. The price we paid did not justify to the property conditions.

Needs improvement

The location is great, but I would not recommend or stay in this unit again unless it was refurbished. On the main floor there is a mishmash of furniture that looks like it was picked up from a thrift store. The upholstered chair is beyond well worn and has a leg that is bowed and looks like it may break. The loveseat (which is not the same one as pictured) is also well worn and needs replaced. The upstairs has a queen bed with an uncomfortable mattress, that also should probably be replaced. However, the biggest problem with this unit is the bathroom. Upon entering we found the tile and ceiling covered in mold and mildew which is partially a function of there being poor ventilation in the bath. There are two windows which do not have handles so you cannot open them and while there is a bath vent there is no other air circulation. When the door is shut to the bathroom it is very hot and steamy. The shower has a very slow drain and will fill up with water as you shower. We called the management company and they were very attentive, cleaned the bathroom and offered to move us, however since it was spring break and we had a pet we could not find an alternative location. The outside of the unit is very nice and we enjoyed sitting on the Adirondack chairs on the porch. The key selling point to this unit is the location which is a block from the beach and the main square of Seaside.
