The Red Winehouse: A Blend of History and Modern Comfort

Step into history and enjoy the charm of a 19th-century winery, thoughtfully redesigned to offer modern comforts in the heart of Santorini. The Red Winehouse is a beautifully restored wine estate that seamlessly combines traditional architecture with sleek, minimal design. Located just 10-15 minutes on foot from the vibrant village of Oia, this private villa offers perfect balance of island tranquility and proximity to Santorini’s most iconic sights.

The Space
This spacious 240 sqm villa is spread across two levels, providing an open and flowing layout that’s perfect for both relaxing and socializing. The heart of the house is the impressive main canava (winery cellar), with its high ceilings and domed roof, providing an airy and light-filled space. The large living area, with a dining space and open-plan kitchen, is ideal for gathering with loved ones. With plenty of seating options, you can unwind here during the day, or enjoy a homemade meal together in the comfort of this historical yet modern setting.

The villa features two private bedrooms, each with its own charm, as well as additional sleeping areas on a mezzanine and in a semi-open space. This layout comfortably accommodates up to 8 guests, making it ideal for both groups and more intimate getaways.

A private courtyard of approximately 100 sqm offers multiple seating corners where you can relax, enjoy a book, or sip local wine. The private terrace boasts breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and the quaint village of Finikia – the perfect spot for watching the sunset.

The Design
The Red Winehouse is a true example of local craftsmanship, built with Santorini’s unique volcanic materials, including Aspa (volcanic ash) and Poria (red volcanic stones). These materials give the home an authentic feel, while the concrete floors blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing the sense of openness.

The main canava hall, originally designed for wine production, now serves as the villa’s main living-dining area. Built-in stone benches, once used to move wine barrels, now provide additional stepped seating in this spacious and unique part of the home.

Private Transport: We can arrange for a pick-up from the airport or harbour by minivan or taxi. Please let us know at least a day before your arrival with your details.

Public Transport: A bus station is just 200 meters from the house.

Access to the Villa: Vehicles are not allowed within the peaceful village of Finikia, but we’ll arrange to pick you up from the main road and guide you to the villa, which is only a 200m walk away.

Welcome Package: Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a thoughtful welcome package including mineral water, a bottle of wine, local goods and coffee capsules, along with a tourist map and helpful information to make your stay unforgettable.

Housekeeping: Bed sheets and towels are changed every fourth day, and cleaning is provided every fourth day, upon request.

Staying at the Red Winehouse was truly special. The house itself is beautifully designed with a unique architecture. It’s just a short walk from Oia, so you get easy access to everything, yet the village was very quiet and authentic. An amazing place that I strongly recommend.

We loved staying here. The property was stunning and beautifully designed. We loved the courtyard and enjoyed watching sunset from the roof several times to avoid the Oia crowd. Everything we needed was thought of ahead of time. Aris was incredibly helpful to us during our stay. It was easy to get lost in Finikia , but Aris guided us in and gave us great instructions. My kids LOVED the place - especially greeting the stray cats each day.

The Red Winehouse Was Amazing!!

The property was absolutely amazing, far surpassing our expectations!! Finikia is a lovely village without the crowds found in Oia and Fira. The hosts were great and very helpful with arrival/departure transfers, restaurant and activity recommendations, and overall information about the rest of the island. Checking in an out was also very easy. Highly recommend staying here for a unique Santorini experience without the crazy crowds!!

Owner arranged pickup at airport and met us at drop off to walk us to the house. She personally showed us around the property and small neighborhood. Great open living room space. Enjoyable outside patio, great for reading and playing cards. Easy 20 minute walk into Oia. So many restaurants to chose from. We had an issue with getting into the house with the key, and the owner came directly over to help us, very responsive

Finikia winery house

This house is perfectly located in Finikia with a 5 minute walk to beautiful Oia. We were a group of 7 and the house was big enough for a group of that size. Erofili was very responsive to our needs. My only suggestion to improve the house would be to have perhaps a comfortable couch or chairs for lounging. All in all a great place in a perfect location.

Great stay in the Red Wine House

My family had a wonderful stay at the Red Winehouse! The house is beautiful and charming, and also quite large. We spent every morning relaxing over breakfast on the large terrace, and every evening enjoying a glass of wine and the cool breezes. The location was perfect since Santorini can be quite crowded. Finikia is a short walk (15min) to Oia and just minutes from the bus stop, but it is away from the crowds. It is a traditional village and full of old Santorini charm. The nearby tavernas we ate at were wonderful. Also the hosts were terrific - Erofili (sp?) was very responsive and helpful both before and during our trip. I highly recommend the Red Winehouse - we would book it again.

Wonderful place to stay

Overall, really loved the space. Plenty of room for party of six. Even though it was hot outside the house was comfortable despite not having AC. Lots of room to relax indoor and outside. Bedding and towels were good. Could use a supply of beach towels. Could use updated cooking pans. Also would be nice if in the lower sleeping area in main room there was a more conventional couch seating area, other than just cushions. A couple area rugs in main area would be a nice addition. We would definitely rent again. We relied on the house contact for recommendations.

Beautiful and spacious property

We were 4 adults. Great kitchen and amenities. Received a lovely welcome package with wine and cheese and fresh fruit. Location was perfect and very close to Oia for the beautiful views. Two watch outs: it’s not air conditioned. Main areas stayed cool but the bedrooms are hot. Second is it’s a long walk to the property. You need to be ready for the hike in. The path is not clean and has poo along the path that you need to watch for. Overall great property and experience. I would strongly recommend.

Rustikale Schönheit in sehr guter, ruhiger Lage

geschmackvoll restauriertes Haus, sehr großzügige Räume. Tolle Lage abseits vom Trubel aber alles gut erreichbar. Schöne Restaurants in unmittelbarer Nähe. Superschöner erholsamer Aufenthalt!

Great outdoor spaces!

This property was perfect for us. Close (5 minutes walking) enough to Oía but out of the crowds (and noise) of town. The home is minimalistic in the ways it’s furnished but has all you need for your stay and the hosts were immediately responsive to all of our questions/needs (I requested a new coffee pot after our first morning and had a brand new one within an hour of my request). The multilevel outdoor spaces were very comfortable and allowed us to enjoy pleasant views while relaxing with a glass of wine. I would definitely stay here again and recommend the Red Wine House to anyone.

Interessantes Objekt leider innige Jahre gekommen

Ohne Daniele hätten wir nur 3 Sterne vergeben. Daniele ist jederzeit schnell erreichbar und ungewöhnlich hilfsbereit und verlässlich! Im Haus müsste vieles erneuert werden, z.B. der Herd, bei dem nur 2 der 4 Platten richtig funktionieren, der W-LAN Anschluss, der zur Hälfte unseres Aufenthalts gar nicht mehr funktioniert hat und auch von Daniele nicht funktionsfähig gemacht werden konnte, der stark abgenutzte Kühlschrank, der sich kaum vollständig schließen lässt, die billige Kaffeemaschine, die 30 Minuten braucht, im 8Tassen Kaffee durchlaufen zu lassen. Leider wurden statt der gebotenen Design Lampen billige Plastiknachttischlampen auf einem Klappstuhl geboten, das macht den Eindruck, als ob das Objekt nur noch zum Geldverdienen genutzt und nicht wirklich gepflegt wird! Der Außenbackofen kann schon länger nicht mehr benutzt werden, der kaum benutzbare Grill ist schätzungsweise 20 Jahre alt und ist brandgefährlich! Einen Geschirrspüler gibt es entgegen der Beschreibung nicht, gab es auch nie, da es dafür auch gar keinen Platz in der Küche gibt!!! Nur Daniele ist wirklich ein Lichtblick!

Red Winehouse

Beautiful and unique house with a lovely large courtyard. We were a group of four and had more than enough room. It's a little tricky to find, but the locals are always helpful. I look forward to returning!
