Charming cottages situated in a scenic holiday location, which form an ideal base from which to explore the stunning scenery of the North Yorkshire Coast..."
The six cottages at Killerby Old Hall are ideal for a countryside holiday whilst being less than 2 miles from the beach of Cayton Bay. The owners live on-site and guests can enjoy the countryside or relax in the indoor heated swimming pool. The accommodation ranges from the Dovecote sleeping 14 in period splendour, through to cosy Chestnut Cottage which sleeps 6. Set in a pretty courtyard, each cottage is different yet has its own sitting-out area with patio furniture and four of the cottages have private hot tubs.
Killerby Old Hall is situated between the coastal resorts of family friendly Filey, with its cobble landing and pretty promenade, and Scarborough, with its vibrant South Bay and naturally picturesque North Bay, located on part of Britain’s heritage coast. The Stephen Joseph Theatre, famed throughout the county, puts on a number of Alan Ayckbourn productions. To the north, across the stunning North Yorkshire Moors, lies the port of Whitby; famous for its connections to Captain James Cook and Dracula. Robin Hood’s Bay, a former fishing village with a smugglers past, has quaint streets which lead visitors to a small, sandy cove and rock pools. Heading inland, find the historic market town of Pickering, where the famous North Yorkshire Moors steam train begins its journey. Access Dalby Forest through the attractive village of Thornton-le-Dale and be sure to stop for an ice cream. The forest offers a range of activities including mountain bike tracks, or for those feeling adventurous there is Go Ape. It is also a popular picnic destination which is surrounded by walks that the whole family can enjoy. Travel a little further afield to Castle Howard with its stunning house and grounds. The ancient, Roman walled city of York sits just an hour up the A64, a famously haunted city with many attractions such as the railway museum, river trips and excellent shopping. To the south along the coast, the Cleveland Way leads to dramatic Flamborough Head and the Bempton RSPB Sanctuary. The village of Cayton is a 500 yard stroll, with two local pubs, post office and shop. Full amenities are just over 4 miles away in Scarborough and fishing is available nearby. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards.

The house was lovely and clean, the owners were quick to deliver any utensils we needed that had been removed for Covid. A washing line would be good and curtains across the main door for in the evening.
The lounge area could do with more seating as we struggled just been a group of 6 so if it was full capacity (8) it would be very difficult. The TVs (3 not 4) were hit and miss on wether they worked, not a big deal to the adults but the kids were disappointed as they didn’t have Access to the games room due to Covid.
Overall it was a fantastic holiday and a lovely place to stay.

We had the most amazing time at Owls Rest, the property and it's location were excellent.
We had the most amazing time at Owls Rest, the property and it's location were excellent. Having a Welcome Pack of goodies after a long journey was very much appreciated. Mrs White the owner took time to inform us of the best places to go in the area to suit our needs, and what to expect. Which meant we had some fantastic days out. Whitby and the Steam Railway being firm favourites. We also as a family very much enjoyed the swimming pool and games room on site.
Perfect property, facilities, location, hosts and exceptional value for money. We very much hope to return soon.

Stayed in Owls Rest for a week with 4 adults and two children (2 & 3 Years). The enclosed garden was safe and enclosed, for both children. The house was more than big enough for all of us. Beds were all very comfy. Sofas downstairs showing their age a little but comfy with our own throws on them. The wine, chocs etc were very welcome. Overall very good, would recommend. Close to Filey, Cayton and Scarborough. The weather was perfect, would return.

Stayed as 2 families with young children. Cottage was perfect for us with the enclosed garden. The pool being next door was great. The beds were the comfiest I’ve slept in. Lovely gesture of welcome package with essentials. Would definitely stay again.

Great cottage.
Great cottage. Swimming pool was perfect. 10 out of 10 if only for the games room which was dated and some equipment broke. But for the location, pool, and cottage we will be going again.

We stayed here as a family of four so there was plenty of space (perhaps less so if there were eight adults). The cottage was extremely clean. It is not adjoined to another cottage so it was very quiet. The bed in the main double was one of the most comfortable in any cottage we have stayed in. I think that in the summer the top floor rooms might get pretty warm. The garden was perfect for sitting/playing in the afternoon sun. Any minor issues we had were dealt with immediately. The pool was a good size, clean and warm - our kids loved it as well as the play area and table tennis. The site is quiet enough that they could go around themselves. There is a small shop less that 10min walk into Cayton and the supermarket is not far away. We had a great week enjoying the area - cayton beach is beautiful. I would definitely recommend staying here and would book again.

This is the second time we have been here to this property and my husband wants us to book again.
This is the second time we have been here to this property and my husband wants us to book again.
The house is lovely and has everything you need, the pool was a little chilly but at this time of year I guess that’s to be expected as not used much.
We had a mixture of ages from 1-70+ and everyone had a great time.
Plenty of room for everyone
