This is super peaceful and yet close to so many things to see! The town is Selfoss is just a few minutes down the road and in the other direction, all the splendor of the south coast waterfalls await. The house is very clean and well outfitted for a comfortable stay. I plan on returning to this property.
We enjoyed a weekend stay with easy access for day trips to Reykjavik, the Golden Circle and Vik, which allowed us to see many of the top sites in Iceland while staying in quiet, beautiful country scenery. The house was well-appointed and perfectly sized for our family of three. Would recommend to a friend!
Lovely cabin near so many Iceland highlights! Hosting was thoughtful and thorough, lots of great details to this shared space. We greatly enjoyed watching the sun set on the flock and herd in the valley. What a delightful gift of a home đ
Property was just right for my fly fishing adventure and some sightseeing. Very quiet and beautiful. Good proximity to essentials and destinations on south coast!
Upon arrival, we were impressed by the beautiful landscapes. The cabin itself was clean and modern. From the central space, one window offered a view of Icelandic horses. The other was nearly floor to ceiling where we caught sight of the Northern Lights.
Renate was quick to respond and help us when we reached out. The guidebook in the cottage has helpful information as well. The cottage is in good proximity to Reykjavik and close to Ring Road for those planning to drive it. If youâre looking to escape to a slice of natural paradise, I highly recommend staying here- we had an amazing time!
Host was extremely helpful and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Cottage was perfect for us as a base from which to explore.
My only wish was that we got to stay longer! We absolutely loved our stay in the cabin. The location near the river was amazing- I couldnât pull myself away from the view on the front porch and out of the front windows. The check in process was extremely easy and the host was amazing. Very clean and had everything we needed! We will recommend the cabins as a must-stay location to any friends who want to visit Iceland.
Our place was far enough off the main road to feel remote, but close enough to be easily accessible to places we wanted to go. Our owner was amazing. Responded quickly and very personable.
It's quite place and beautiful view. When it was heavy snow there, the property asked us to take care and support anything necessary. Itâs also good for family.
Overall a beautiful picturesque property with all the details to make a very special experience in the Icelandic countryside. The experience of seeing the Aurora from the front porch could not have been more stunning. We originally thought this space had two bedrooms as listed but the second bedroom describes the living/dinning/kitchen where there is a pull out couch. My family of 5 needed a little time to get use to the close quarters but the space is layer out so well to make it quite comfortable and cozy. I especially appreciate Renate offering to bring down a fold out cot to make the sleeping arrangements more comfortable. We all slept well and had a great stay.
A friend and I planned to visit Iceland for a week, focusing on the southern part of the country. We decided to stay in one spot and do day trips, and we settled on this cottage. We wanted a place in the country away from city or town lights, but still not too far from civilization. The cottage was perfect! It is small but comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed to prepare breakfast and a packed lunch. The beds are comfortable and we slept soundly, even on very windy nights. (It can get quite windy in Iceland but the cottage was free of drafts or cold spots.) Renate, our host, was very responsive to my questions, and provided helpful information. The view from the cottage is beautiful and we enjoyed watching the sheep! We were able to easily visit Reykjavik, sights on the Golden Circle, waterfalls on the way to Vik, and VestmannaeyjabĂŠr (the Westman Islands). Selfoss is just about 30 minutes away, so handy for groceries and restaurants. To sum up, the location is great and the cottage is comfortable and clean with an excellent host! I highly recommend it.
