Perfect town centre location.
Kitchens closed since 3rd May ( Not informed by Expedia as asked by hotel) had we been informed we would have cancelled and booked somewhere else, so no breakfast. Reason given by friendly staff was owner wanted room only option. We did get £6.50 x 2 reduction and paid £5 for parking . Hotel was very dated with wooden floors and worn carpets to stairs which needed a good dust. I wouldn't stay again.
This hotel was once very grand I’m sure but it’s a shame to see it in this condition. Rooms very tired, bathrooms that make you want to not undress, so old it is impossible to keep clean.
It would be great to see someone give this hotel a complete remodel and make it fitting of its history.
The staff however were lovely and couldn’t do more, they like the building deserve better!
The hotel is quite run down and tired.
The kitchen was closed and with looking at reviews elsewhere this has been the case for quite some time so there was no breakfast regardless of whether it had been paid for.
In addition while I stayed it was 30°c outside and the radiator in the bathroom was turned on giving off huge amounts of heat into the room.
This couldn't be turned off as it's connected to the hot water.
In all, I had a horrid stay with the extra heat, lack of paid for food and although the room hald been cleaned there was stains on the carpets and a broken shower nozzle.
I would not stay here again, I advise you not too either.
Our room, bedding and towels were clean although very noisy with traffic at the front of the building. The general areas within the hotel were not clean and were shabby. Kitchens had closed in May so no food available at all. Although our room was clean we were not happy with the rest of the hotel. Would not stay here again.
Our first experience of a dog friendly hotel and the staff couldn’t have been any nicer or helpful which totally made the difference and would 100% go again.
Location is perfect to explore the town and surrounded by dozens of bars cafes and restaurants so you can just take your pick.
Absolutely shocking place to stay... Paid for bed and breakfast but no breakfast offered or given with no reason.
I would like a full refund.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Good room - clean, spacious, light, and comfy bed.
BUT the hotel has sadly seen better days. For a start - NO breakfast! Kitchen had been shut down. The whole thing felt like a sinking ship. And such a shame - a beautiful building, historic, lovely rooms downstairs, all deserted. The staff behind desk seemed like the only people around besides a few people staying in the rooms. What a shame. Won't be staying there again, although they were very polite and helpful. That made a difference. But nothing you can do if the owners, whoever they may be, see fit to run a place into the ground.
We were disappointed. To say they got all that money after the refugees had been there we thought it would be really nice. But there wasn't much difference to the ladt time we were there 3 year's ago.chips in bath, shawer dripped all the time we were there no maintenance all week end .They told use when we got there no breakfast anymore. You also have to pay parking .The carpets in hallway still threadbare. Talking to othere ex army who allso started there said they wouldn't go again next year.

Booked bed and breakfast, but when checking in we were told breakfast was not available receptionist said Hotels.com should have informed us, not happy as breakfast being included in price was main reason why I booked the rooms
It is a very old hotel , and I expected lots of creakiness but it was fine , a really interesting building in the town centre with a car park . The only downside was the lack of breakfast ( no food available at all ) but it is surrounded by food outlets and pubs
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Dirty and I cannot believe a hotel that doesn’t serve breakfast, restaurant closed and no beer.
It is awful and I cannot imagine any reason for anyone to stay here.
Old. Dated, rusty windows, online photo s do ot reflect a standard double room. Bathroom smelt damp !

The room was clean and the location is central. There is no breakfast provided since May which was disappointing. The room was tired and old decoration.
