Fantastic place
Posted Oct. 24, 2023 on HotelsFantastic place! Hamza was incredible with his help, attention and service. The location is steps from the main square with restaurants, shops, etc. literally outside your door. All of this with being very quiet when you are inside. Nice room with a very nice common are that included all of the amenities. I will definitely stay here again.

We paid a very high premium to stay at this location during the Palio race and doing so was a mistake. The road where the place is located is closed for some hours before the Palio race because the Palio parade uses this road. We were unable to return to the room during this time, even though we needed badly to go to the room. There was no blanket on the bed, only a sheet, and there was no blanket in the room for us to choose to use. The toilet paper ran out and there was no extra roll in the room. There is a step down from the bathroom to the bedroom, which is hard to see at night with no night light. Most hotels, at this price, include some sort of breakfast in Siena. Hamza's service was excellent, for sure. It is a bad location for the Palio and definitely not worth the premium price.

We are sorry to hear that we couldn’t meet all of your expectations. We would however like to point out that the location of the guesthouse is usually appreciated by all our guests as it is located only a few steps away from Piazza del Campo, the city’s main square, at the heart of the historical centre. The Palio is Siena’s most important cultural event, a tradition that dates back as far as the 12th century. During this time, tourists from all over the world visit Siena to take part in the experience. Prices can’t be expected to be particularly low during this period. All our prices are aligned with those set by similar accommodations. We informed you beforehand that, for reasons of crowd control and in order to guarantee the security of all participants, an important number of streets, particularly those through which the parade passes, are closed during the Palio. As you point out correctly, most hotels would offer breakfast. As stated on all websites, Palazzo del Papa, however, is a guesthouse. As such, we are unable to offer breakfast. We make sure this information is clear and visible to all on all booking systems in order to prevent false expectations. We try to make up for this by providing our guests with free snacks and refreshments, as well as coffee, all kinds of teas and herbal teas.Italy is a Mediterranean country. During August, temperatures easily reach 105 degrees Fahrenheit, as was the case when you were visiting. In Italy, it is customary not to put blankets on the beds during Summer. This is also due to the fact that most people here prefer not to use their air conditioning on very low temperatures during the night. Blankets are however always available upon request and I was happy to provide you with one as soon as you asked.I entered your room every day and did your daily cleaning in order to provide you with everything that you could need in the room. 2 extra rolls of toilet paper can be found under the bathroom sink at any time. We hope that in the future you will be able to find accommodation better suited to your needs and expectations.Kind regards Hamza

Best guesthouse in Siena!
Posted May 10, 2023 on HotelsWe had an absolutely amazing stay in Siena with the fantastic Hamza, he was unbelievably kind and helpful, nothing was too much of an ask. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable and the location couldn't have been more perfect, right on the main square.
Hamza helped us in every way, from letting us drop our bags off early to making reservations for us, we honestly can't thank him enough.
If you're heading to Siena definitely stay here, you won't be disappointed.
