Yellowstone Park - 1/2 Mile-Silver Gate

Wolves, bear, moose and elk abound in the Silver Gate/Cooke City part of Yellowstone and the Beartooth Mountains. There are beautiful mountain views from the back deck, and front windows. Some of the best native trout fishing in the world is minutes from the house. These include the Yellowstone River, Lamar River, Slough Creek, Soda Butte Creek, and the Clarks Fork of the Yellowstone. This is a summer rental only!
A great family day can be spent touring the famous features of Yellowstone or taking a day trip to Cody, WY to see the Wild Bill Cody Museum, a genuine rodeo nightly, a mock gun fight at the original Irma Hotel, good food, and many shops including the Sierra Outlet. Cooke City is 3 miles away for shopping, restaurants, ATV rentals and much more. But Silver Gate has quite a few sweet places too. The best time for animal watching is June and early July, while the best time for fishing is mid July through September. Hiking is fabulous anytime.

The house is clean, spacious and comfortable, with a large Great Room and fireplace, leather furniture, big kitchen with new black range top cooking surface and full size laundry with half bath on first floor. Second floor has two very large bedrooms with new carpet: One has two double beds and one single bed and the other has a queen bed and a single. This arrangement will sleep a family of six or 5 singles. Also, a nice full bathroom upstairs.

Outside there is a rear deck with gorgeous mountain views so close you feel like you can reach out and touch them. There is a grill and patio furniture for outdoor dining. There is also a very small stream in the yard which holds a few small native Yellowstone Cutthroat Trout. Very private yard.

This cabin is just lovely! It is in a beautiful location and allowed easy access to Yellowstone. The owner is so sweet and made communication easy. My family highly recommends this cabin if you are looking to experience nature! Be aware that drive time to near by towns is long.

Marcia was a great hostess - very communicative, helpful, and responsive. The cabin is comfortable and spacious. We had less than 5 minute access to the northeast entrance of Yellowstone national park and were able to drive through the Lamar valley early every morning and see tons of wildlife, including bison, foxes, coyotes, grouse, and grizzly bears. Awesome trip of a lifetime!

Amazing Location!

If you want to experience the wildlife in and around Yellowstone National Park this is the place to stay! My family and I loved staying so near the NE entrance and bringing able to go through Lamar Valley early in the morning and late in the evenings. The home has everything you could need in a vacation rental plus more!

Wonderful cozy home where you can stretch out and enjoy the amazing views of Silver Gate. Easy access to the park and surrounded by an assortment of unique shops. The neighbors are top notch and the owners of the property are wonderful to work with. We will be staying here again!

My family and I loved staying here. It was so close to Lamar valley and other must do stuff in Yellowstone. Large enough space for my kids to play around and get some energy out. Great owner and very knowledgeable of the area and she makes you feel at home.

Perfect home base for NE Yellowstone adventures

This home in Silver Gate was a perfect base for our family to explore Yellowstone from the Northeast entrance. Marcia is a very gracious host & met us at check in to go over the home & how everything worked. She made great recommendations on things to do both inside & outside the park. Great house and a great location. Had all the things needed for our stay. Had a great time watching Bighorn sheep on the mountain arcoss the street from the house. Make sure to get your morning coffee and afternoon ice cream at "Stop the car trading post"

Wonderful property

This property sits right in the small town of Silvergate just outside the entrance to the park. It was a perfect rental if you want to enjoy beautiful surroundings in Montana and Yellowstone park. Marcia, the owner/host could not be friendlier and more knowledgeable about the area. She was fantastic and everyone in the area knows her. The home was comfortable and welcoming. I would definitely look to rent this property the next time we visit this area!!!

FANTASTIC PLACE TO STAY

I cannot say enough about this rental. Marcia was great to deal with; communication was responsive and informative. The house itself is perfect for those visiting Yellowstone Nat.'al park, esp.if you want to be close to the wildlife rich Lamar Valley. Marcia was always helpful as to things to do, places to eat, and always notified us of local wildlife sightings. If you get a chance and want a nice place to stay.....rent this house!

Great home in a super cool small Montana town. Great home base for exploring Yellowstone. I picked this area for its close proximity to Lamar Valley. If your wanting to experience the areas mega fauna this is the place. Lamar valley is beyond words . Spend some time in this area, you will not be disappointed.

Perfect Location for Exploring the Lamar Valley

Very comfortable, had everything I needed and more to enjoy my stay. Bed was comfortable, nice big fridge if I wanted to do cooking, roomy and great access to both the park and any needs in the small town. Marcia was a fabulous host, showed me everything I would need to know, and helped build a fire in the wood burning stove when the power went out due to weather. Outage didn't last long, but had everything I needed to get through it. Marcia is a fabulous host, as sweet as can be! Would definitely stay again!

Perfect cabin one mile from NE Yellowstone entrance

My husband and I stayed here for a week while we visited Yellowstone, and had a truly wonderful experience! The cabin is beautiful, spacious, and immaculately clean. Fully stocked with everything you could need. The owner, Marcia, is a delightful person who goes out of her way to make sure the stay is special. Silver Gate is a charming little community, and very quiet at night. The cabin is just 20 min from Lamar Valley where we saw all sorts of wildlife. We enjoyed every minute of our stay, and hope to return next year.

Beautiful home Amazing experience

After talking about taking my kids to Yellowstone for many many years I don't think I could've found a better place to stay. The home itself has an amazing feel to it and outback you get an amazing view with the sounds of a crystal clear creek runs through the yard.Marcia herself is an absolute treat. We had a wonderful time in Yellowstone with our base being at "Marcia's House". Marcia and her assistant Julie made sure that everything was in order and that our stay would be as expected. You simply cannot ask for a better location if you are in Silver Gate for a Yellowstone visit. My wife and I spent 5 glorious days fly fishing and exploring the "Serengeti of North America". We saw two grizzlies, two black bears, multiple pronghorn, and hundreds of bison. The Soda Butte provided some great fly fishing, though it was quite technical being late September. We still caught our share, and did so in some of the most beautiful expanses in the world. Marcia was a wonderful host. Her book and back story made the trip even more special for me and my nature loving wife. We hope to come back for more adventures in the future.

Excellent property and wonderful host!

We loved our stay in the cabin! There are 6 of us in the family and there was plenty of space to enjoy ourselves when we were not out exploring Yellowstone. Marcia was a wonderful host and had lots of great tips and recommendations for us and even lots of communication prior to arriving too. Our trip to Yellowstone was supposed to happen last year, but because of the flooding, we rebooked with Marcia for this year and so glad we did. It was fun exploring both Silver gate and Cooke City when were weren't in YNP. We loved that the entrance was so close and driving through the Lamar Valley to see all the wildlife was fantastic! Highly recommend staying here, you won't be disappointed.

Quiet getaway

The house is very comfortable with lots of room to spread out. We had a lot of gear, so it was nice to have room for it all. Marcia adds some thoughtful touches like providing Kleenex, (many rentals don't) tons of trash cans, and ice in the freezer ready for cocktails on arrival day! The washer/dryer were especially appreciated after having been on a 4 day camping trip. We enjoyed the peaceful back porch and benefited from Marcia's fishing expertise. We will definitely rent again when back in the area.
