WE have stayed here 3 times now over several years. We stay here because it is close to the Rideau River and the locks. It is very quiet and a short walk to a park right beside the locks. Nice to sit and watch the boats come and go. The rooms all have balconies, which is nice, but no chairs to sit on out there. The lobby area and continental breakfast area is very clean, neat and new looking. The rooms are in terrible shape, and the air conditioning is noisy. The staff is great, and if you need anything , they will do their best to get it for you. The rooms all need a total new look and renovation. The beds are comfy and clean. No bugs, but the rooms are very shabby. For what you pay, you deserve better. We probably won't stay here next time unless the place changes a LOT!!!!!

The hotel was clean and staff were friendly, but it was all extremely rundown. Ceiling was flaking and falling apart. Thr balcony looked as if it was crumbling away, and was covered in pigeon feces. Elevator did not feel safe at the top floor (noticeable and wortisome shaking as it reached the 5th floor, everytime). Vagrants living on the lot made for uncomfortable dog walks. Shower took almost 5 minutes to.produce hot water. I would not stay here again.

The only positives about this place were the staff service and the fact that it is right beside the river. The air conditioning in the room worked well. The location felt very sketchy as we pulled up and the building is completely run down. There is no ventilation in the washroom, towel hung to dry stayed damp for over 24 hours. The carpets are stained and dirty, the bed had a curve to the mattress towards the centre, stains on the walls. The building is in a state of disrepair. We inspected for pests and did not see any evidence of that thankfully. The hallways looked like they had not had the edges vacuumed in ages. I think there was even a spot of blood on the wall. This place could have potential given the location looking out over the water but needs a complete renovation top to bottom. I would not stay here again.

Not sure it deserves 2 1/2 stars. It started by the staircase to the second floor, the rug was extremely dirty. Entering the room, walls, rug, lamps buttons, coffee machine, chair, everything was dirty. The bed sheets however, although wrinkle were clean. In the bathroom, although the ceiling was about to fall and so was the light fixture and the water sink knob, the toilet sink, shower and towels were clean, great hot water pressure. Balcony is so filthy you just don’t want to stay standing on it, no furniture to sit. Great location, walk to restaurent and bars. Breakfast was terrible, bread with hard edges, kitchen area, as dirty as the rest of the property. Would not recommend this place. At the end of the day, what can you expect for the price… it did the trick for us..as we were looking for location.

The breakfast was good, the staff were helpful for that. When i arrived there was no one at the front desk i waited and then had to call to find a staff member. The room lights were full of cobwebs. Sheets were inside out on the bed. The ceiling had obvious water damage. The bathrub was dirty under the soap holder. The hallways were not in the best shape. The lights plug in behind the bed and kight wouldnt always stay on because the plug was either damaged or the plug wasnt working. Another light plug wasnt working as well.

Very old building, needs plenty of upgrades. Room was relatively good, bedding and towels were clean. Balcony overlooking Canal was interesting. Breakfast was adequate. The elevator was small, slow and didn't work all the time. Not certain I'd stay again.

I had an issue with the shower head that feel off. The first person we spoke too sent maintnance but offered nothing else. I spoke to another dront desk clerk the following day and she was fantastic, offered a partial discount and was incredibly friendly. Sadly, the balcony from our roo. was basically unusable do to all the pigeons, their droppings and the resulting smell. Hallways and elevator were not well cleaned, but the room was in a good state and the bed was very comfy. All of downtown was withjn walking distance and there was places to eat all around.
