Tip of the Peninsula Lake House Retreat
Enjoy a relaxing retreat on Chain O' Lakes in South Bend! Our place is a destination in itself, but also minutes from South Bend airport and the University of Notre Dame. Enjoy flexible sleeping areas and plenty of outdoor space, including a sandy beach and gazebo, complete with an outdoor TV. The property is surrounded on 3 sides by water, with boat traffic passing by between Big and Little Bass Lakes. It is private and quiet with plenty of parking space and a fenced side yard and doggy door for 4-footed guests. Guests are welcome to the use of 5 kayaks and 2 paddle boards, as well as a large foam water pad, spring through fall. Experienced ice fishers will enjoy the property in the winter.
Stayed here for a Notre Dame game weekend and it was perfect! Beautiful scenery, very relaxing, pictures and description were exactly as listed. Excellent hosts!
There for a Notre Dame game. Uber worked well to and from. About 25 minutes out. There is a set of instructions in kitchen up on the water filtration system. Lucky we found it! Upstairs master bedroom & bath was clean and fine. That bedroom might not be suitable for some seniors with mobility issues. Winding staircase and tight access to each side of bed. Small deck upstairs as well. Kitchen area great, big square table for dining. No dishwasher but nice vertical rack to clean up. Could use more directions on how to use water filtration system and outside TV remotes. Downstairs bedrooms (2) can accommodate four in the rooms, great for kids or mixed use if you donât mind that. One room may have room for six. Mind the step up into kitchen, family room and step down into each bedroom. Unique loft sleeping area via ladder access. Full bath for use as well.Coded entrance door. Nice covered patio, seating and TV. Place could use bit of clean up outside but everything was easy to access and use. Water front and water toys there to use. Swans and other bird activity each day on water. Place does have decent connectivity. Pet friendly. Separate garage if needed. Trains run fairly nearby and local airport close by as well. Host is responsive for questions.
A wonderland for all of us, from infant to grandpop! Two Augusts in a row and only better this time. The outdoor activities are hard to beat. The place was clean and attractive. It was well stocked, except for a toaster and coffee machine. But we brought our own coffee maker and toaster oven for cooking outside, so no big deal. It was very comfortable, 75 degrees inside and 93 out. Furniture is comfortable, bathrooms are very functional and thoughtfully organized. The pergola was a big hangout place when not in the water. Thanks Julia and Will. You've gotten our grandkids addicted to your place. They want to move there. Bruce
The property is beautiful and spacious. There are kayaks, a paddleboat, yard games, fishing, and more! The perfect spot for our family! We love it there!! The host is very accommodating and prompt to answer any questions. A wonderful vacation spot!!
The house is at the end of the street surrounded on water on 3 sides..it was very peaceful. The outside area was great. There was a gazebo that we sat under every night and plsyed games. The lake was easy access for kataking.
We had an amazing friends trip here celebrating a couple of birthdays! It was just as peaceful and welcoming as it looks in the photos. Even though it's on a street with other houses, it still feels very secluded. We loved the kayaks, the pavilion area with the fountain, TV, and fire table, and the unique home design. We did notice that the shower drains were backing up a bit, but it wasn't a big issue and everything else was absolutely perfect. Thank you!!
Beautiful property at the tip of the peninsula Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the surroundings. Wish there was dedicated firepit area with seating. The loft sleeping area is unique but only accessible by ladder. We appreciated the variety of board games available for our use. We had issues with the AC during our stay, but appreciate how fast the host responded. We rented a pontoon boat from Vacationpontoonrental.com and they delivered it directly to the lake and put it in the water for us. The kids had so much fun swimming off the boat in the middle of the lake and using the lily pad. The beach access is pretty, has great views of the lake and is a good place to launch the kayaks and paddleboard but was not suitable for swimming due to seaweed growth. Our dog loved running around the property and swimming off the beach access. Enjoyed our stay and looking forward to returning.
I'm giving this the highest mark because our whole family had a great time outdoors, around the big kitchen table and with all the wonderful activities. They are fully stocked for inside and outside fun. However, the A/C was way under powered for summer. Downstairs was O.K. but it made sleeping upstairs in the loft a sweaty event for one couple. The master bedroom did fine because of the sliding glass door. Overall though, terrific! Thanks.
My family and I were above and beyond impressed with the house and property. The grounds were gorgeous and beautifully maintained and the house was the perfect size for our group. Every amenity was provided for and put to good use. We loved all of the water toys and took advantage of spending every night under the gazebo talking and making memories. We decided to rent a pontoon for our stay and used PONTOONRENTAL.COM to have a boat delivered and picked up from our site. What a game changer! Having a pontoon added even more excitement and fun to our days and we will continue to rent from Rex and his team.
Our communication with Will and Julia was always fast and easy. They had no problem answering my million questions and it was so nice to meet Will in person on our check in day. All in all, we had a great experience and are looking forward to staying there next year as well.
Couldn't have asked for a better home or host!
We woke up to a power failure and since the property is on septic and well - you cannot shower or use the toilets. We were rushed to get to graduation and army commissioning, so owner was kind to let us use his bathrooms but it was a 25 min drive. Then, the well water was brown after the power returned. It ruined an expensive blouse that I was washing in the washing machine. I still cannot get it white. Then the washing machine broke and wouldnât spin. Finally, there were holes in some of the screen windows and bugs got in the house. The owner lied to
vRBO when we complained and asked for more of a refund by saying the brown water was from construction work in the street. It was on well water!!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!
Our stay was very enjoyable. We enjoyed fishing, swimming , and the lily pad off the dock. There were 3 kayaks and paddle boards for us to use. The house was well stocked for us to cook meals and there was plenty of room for our family of 6. We also brought our dog and he thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor space and the lake. Highly recommend for families looking for a peaceful, low key vacation. Very easy communication with our hosts. Thanks again!
2 of my sons, and my brother stayed at the property for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay, the location, the amenities, and the views from the property. It was a simple 20 minute drive to the NOTRE DAME campus and i would highly recommend staying here with or without kids.
Quaint cabin with wonderful lake access and all the amenities needed!!!
Interesting set up in cabin, but it fit all needs. Best set up on the lake with anything needed to enjoy outdoor needs for fun and relaxation!!! Loved our stay!!
Perfect vacation for lake lovers who want to kayak, paddle board, fish, swim, and watch outdoor movies at night around the fire. The lake is clean & quiet, easy for all of our ages to safely enjoy. The house is gorgeous & stocked with everything you need. We canât wait to go back!!
