Green Plains Cabin

The Space
Located on 66 acres of rolling farmland and wooded countryside, this restored log cabin - built circa 1855 - is rustic but not the least bit primitive. A massive stone fireplace makes relaxing in the winter cozy. Enjoy your morning coffee with a beautiful view of Ohio farmland from the screened-in porch. Jump into the outdoor shower or hot tub after a day of hiking or shopping in nearby Yellow Springs. Centrally located, the Cabin is just 20 minutes from Dayton and 50 minutes from Columbus.
This 19th century log cabin - original to the property - was dismantled and restored in 1989. Various updates over the years keep the Cabin fresh without compromising its rustic qualities.
Guest Access
The Cabin is located on a working farm where we raise hay and Corriente cattle. Guests may walk the property, enjoy the hot tub located a few yards from the Cabin and fish in the catch-and-release pond. Sarah provides charcoal, lighter fluid and a retro Weber kettle grill for outside cooking. The fire pit nearby is a fun place to roast marshmallows and tell stories.
Two bicycles on site are available for guests who want to ride the Ohio to Erie bike trail, which is just a mile from the farm entrance.
Other Things to Note
The Cabin is a homey, comfortable place — nothing fussy, nothing untouchable. We expect you to put your feet up, take a deep breath and relax while you’re there.

I'm fortunate to travel in and outside the US and Green Plains Cabin has been one of my most enjoyable stays. Austin and Sarah have done an impeccable job in restoring this cabin; not missing any details. All the amenities were exceptional and better than expected. The bed in the loft was beyond comfortable, and I slept like a baby both nights. If you've ever visited or stayed somewhere and knew you belonged, this was that place for me. I told Sarah my visit was soul nourishing. It was just what I needed.I see myself visiting again and again.

This was the best place I have ever stayed in! This cabin is so romantic and quiet and private- we absolutely loved our time here, 3 nights. It is on a cattle farm, with beautiful views and so peaceful You could spend hours INSIDE the cabin looking at all of the collections, the history, the art and just relaxing!!!! Sarah is an amazing host and she has EVERYTHING you need right there. Her suggestions of places to go to were wonderful. We absolutely cannot wait to return.

Truly a one of a kind gem

Sarah's communication and clarity of information could not have been better. This cabin exceeded our expectations- from the stunning views of the pond and farmland to the special little touches throughout the home. It was the perfect spot to unplug - a quintessential combination of tech (central AC and WiFi) and homespun hospitality. We will definitely be returning! The Cabin was amazing! the hosts, Sarah and Glen, blended the historical cabin with modern conveniences like air conditioning and wi-fi! The location is close to a ton of things-Dayton as well as Yellow Springs, many farmers markets, and the interesting town of Yellow Springs. I would highly recommend this cabin if you're spending time in the Dayton, Ohio, area!

We visited the Green Plains Cabin for a four-day weekend in mid-June. The cabin was adorable, with a storybook old-world Swedish theme. The main level had a comfy sitting area, a small kitchen, and a half-bath. The bedroom upstairs seemed to have a queen-size bed (we didn't stay up there), and the basement had a king-sized bed and a full bath. Our host, Sarah, was lovely to work with and responded to our questions promptly. I would definitely recommend a visit.
