A tired and jaded hotel in need of a full makeover
We arrived at 15.10 as the check-in was from 15.00 onwards. We were told the room wasn't ready and wouldn't be ready for 30-60 mins. This was (apparently) due to the dact that the hotel was short-staffed but thry also said it was because of late checkout for the previous occupants.
After complaining, we eventually got in to our room after 10 mins.
The room was exceptionally hot as there was no air conditioning and the windows could only be opened by about 5cm. In the absence of air conditioning, we were provided with a small and pretty ineffective desk fan
The room itself was well decorated and very clean. It had a small double bed but it was comfortable
The decor of the bathroom was very dated.
Breakfast the next day was ok. We had to wait on several occasions for hot food to be supplied, but when it was it was tasty.
Not sure were to start. Initially driving up to botleigh it has the wow factor. We were early so had an hour to have a drink or two in back gardens. The staff were scarce and new and very inexperienced and it looked like the left leg didnt know what the right leg should be doing. When we finally got our keys at 3pm we got in the room (executive suite) really !!!!. At first glance it looked tired but ok for two nights booked. On closer look the room was in pretty poor shape. Carpet behind or side of bed filthy. Bed so uncomfottable it would have probably been suitable for a 1 stone toddler to sleep in. The room has no air con but had a desk fan that was also filthy. In the bathroom the plumbing especially the cold water tap played loud tunes when turned on. (Horrendous). Under the toilet seat the rim was rotten. Also never been cleaned behind. There where net curtains with an hole in one of them. The windows were filfty and full of cob webs. The ceiling cowels where full of cob webs throughout. We went down stairs to mention it to reception but the lady was busy booking other guests in so we thought wed go and have another drink at the staff less bar. You have to hunt the staff down as there arnt many there. My wife said lets try a sanswich. I ordered two sandwiches and a bowl of chips. The server came to me with a reciept to sign but forgot to add. He then came back with another receipt to sign for the second sandwich. He then came back 10 mins later asking if we wanted b
They say first impressions count and they so do. The receptionist Katie was welcoming, happy, professional and very helpful with all my questions. The dining room and bar staff all good. The cleaners never get mentioned so here goes, the standard of cleaning throughout the hotel is excellent they must work extremely hard. It is a must visit
Watied 2 hrs for dinner and starters you had 2 function s going on And thrown everyone at theose we weren't the only one s to complain .staffed we had were run off their fleet
I enjoyed a Quiet Night and good service and I was soon on the road in the morning with no problems!
Thank you from,
Rob.

Ok! Bit dated...
Stay was pleasant but bare in mind half board DOES NOT mean you have breakfast and dinner it means breakfast and £25 towards dinner. Hot tub could have been warmer. Hotel was a bit dated and could have done with a little update.

Staff require more training for standard of property. No serving spoons etc in restaurant for breakfast. Cold coffee, No towels for spa expected to use room towels. No mirror in room near plug for hair dryer. Sunday restaurant closed at 5.30 pm. Generally disappointed with standard
Lovely hotel in beautiful setting. Very friendly staff and lovely comfortable room. This was our second stay here and I would say rooms have been refurbished since our last stay.
A very pleasant hotel, nice garden, nice pool, nice lounge, excellent staff. But the bed was far too firm for me. And dinner was pricey and not that great.
The room was clean and the en-suite really nice, although the windows were old and the table surface area for all things very small. The food service was very poor, and very slow, although the food was nice and hot when it did come. Staff seemed unaware of basic cleanliness principles and many tables were left uncleaned - eg when my friend asked for a lemon slice with drink it was bought to the garden is the waiters hand, rather than on a plate, and we had to clear tables at initial coffee on arrival ourselves.
