Southern Oaks Inn WAS a great place to stay, HOWEVER, since Quality Inn bought them out it has changed for the worse. Rates went up approx. $60 per night and now they charge for parking $10 per night. The rooms are clean and well kept, however, showers with no bathtub. The wonderful full breakfast is now powdered scrambled eggs, watered down gravy with biscuits, only 2 varieties of yogurt, cereal, coffee, milk and juice. Southern Oaks had a fresh breakfast with real eggs, sausage gravy with biscuits, fresh fruit, bacon and sausage, yogurt, pastries, tea, coffee and juice. They advertise that you have a trolley option of $5 per room, per night unlimited use, hop on-hop off service that will take you to Historic Downtown St. Augustine and Vilano Beach between 10am – 10pm. This is NOT true. The trolley no longer goes to Vilano Beach, it is no longer hop on- hop off, it goes only to 1 stop and back to the hotel and runs only to 6 pm. We look for a different place to stay in the future.

Overall we had a good experience. The hotel is very nice, extremely clean, and conveniently located. Everything is easily accessible by car, and they also offer a shuttle to historic St. Augustine. We didn’t use the shuttle, but it’s a great option if you want to avoid driving and parking downtown. Breakfast was good and well organized. It was the same both days, which is fine, though some variety would have been nice. Options included eggs, breads, and cereal. There were no breakfast meats or waffle maker, which was a bit disappointing. However, the breakfast area was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. We requested a first-floor room the day before arrival, and the staff was very accommodating, which we appreciated. Our room was spotless, looked almost brand new, and was very comfortable with plenty of space. We had a king-size bed; the mattress was very firm—too firm for our preference, as we woke up sore—but it would be great for anyone who likes a firm mattress. Our only real complaint was the pillows. While they looked nice, they flattened immediately and made sleeping extremely uncomfortable. Unfortunately, this made for a rough night. Next time, we’ll bring our own. Overall, this was a good place to stay: super clean, well located, and an excellent value. Despite the pillow issue, we would recommend it and would stay here again.

Guy at desk was great, but we had hair and footprints in the shower and an old shower head that just dripped 24/7 and then there were stuck boogers on the wall if you’d like a picture

Since quality inn took over the service is not the same. Roaches in the room, cleanliness is not the same as our last visit in July. No welcome drinks and they put a dog in the room next to us and we couldn’t sleep until the owners returned at about 10:30. Unfortunately they lost their touch I will not be back.
