Extremely rude young lady when we arrived to check in. We were 40 minutes early and she abruptly told us she would charge us extra for being early. We asked her could we sit at the bar and get some food and were told they werenât doing food so walk into the little village.
The hotel advertises food and drink so thatâs false advertising. You walk into the hotel and thereâs a horrible musty smell so we walked straight back out and booked into a nearby Inn
From start to finish this was a bad experience, on arrival it was not clear where to go when you checked in - the phone number was incorrect on the door when we called and reception had moved. No iron in the room, had to get one from reception which proved difficult - we were then woke up at 8am by another guest to get the iron. No toilet roll in room, had trouble getting the shower to the right temperature due to dodgy handle. Key card was not allocated the right nights so had to ring reception to get back into room late at night on the 2nd night. Also didn't get a key to get back into the building, we had to use a hidden lock box in the bushes which was very odd. The building was lovely and you can definitely see the potential, just lacked any real service or offering - shame to see such a lovely building going this way.
What a little gem this hotel is, there is no restaurant, but has a communial room with facilities to be able to make food. This didnt bother me & my boyfriend as we could get up and go out to eat as & when we liked. Room was massive and so comfy, window sill was so wide i could sit in it reading my book and looking at the sea.
Maria who runs this hotel on her own is a amazing, nothing was to much trouble, very knowledgeable and helpful, nothing was too much for her. I would personally stay here again.
Had a different experience staying at the Llawnroc compared to other hotels. Met by Maria on our arrival, gave us a tour of accommodation and was very helpful. I didnât realise there did not offer breakfast or meals when booking but it was actually ok, better in fact. Not tied to times and have other options. The beach is literally a few mins walk down the hill with a cafe, shop which serves breakfast and a fish and chip shop. Our accommodation very clean and bed was comfy. We visited when very hot and the air con does not work but Maria popped a fan in our room. Would highly recommend, short drive to Mevagessy, great place to visit when tide in and see resident seal!! Boat trip to Fowey worth a go. Overall a relaxing stay.
A lovely property, great rooms and communal areas. I love the idea that it operated as almost self catering, without traditional hotel services. It was calm and quiet, very relaxing stay, would definitely come again. Fantastic little village and beach within walking distance.
Maria is an absolute star!
The Llawnroc was run by Maria on her own during our stay. She did everything, from welcoming us on arrival, to providing information on local places to eat, to cleaning rooms and even fixing the boiler when there was no hot water on the Saturday morning when the plumber chose not to attend until midday.
It would be an idea for the management to make proper contracts with tradesmen for immediate response to this type of breakdown to ensure it does not become an issue.
The web site should be more explicit about the facilities at the Llawnroc as it is effectively self catering with some small food items, milk, cornflakes being provided.
We had to stay here onky for 1 night. Unfortunately a damage to our motorcycle obliged to stay in Gorran Haven for 4 nights. The accomodation in hotel was perfect but without a rental car the place is isolated, nice but not for long stays.
Amazing place to stay! The room was huge, very clean, and well-maintained. Itâs also close to the beach with wonderful views. Thank you for the fantastic experience!
