The staff was very nice and helpful. I felt immediately welcomed when I walked in and check in was a breeze. Also, the rooms were thoroughly cleaned and the bedding seemed to be brand new. So it kind of stinks that the hotel itself was so rough. The condition of the hotel is super rough. The doors have combination locks, which is convenient for entry, but there is not a deadbolt/chain/door stop on the inside. So you just kind of have to trust that it’s locked when you go to bed…which I wasn’t a big fan of. The door also sat a little wonky in the frame, so the gap beneath was pretty big. I came back to the room on my second night to 3 crickets hopping around, and they were really hard to see on the dark carpet There are other things about the room I could nitpick, but it’s St. Johns…I wasn’t expecting a 5 star stay. Honestly, if the door had an inside lock and could keep the crickets out, the rest of the stuff wouldn’t have mattered to me. But if you are picky AT ALL about your rooms…you will need to either brace yourself or find somewhere else to stay. Maybe request a second floor room?
