Brand New! Soulard Charmer - Pet Friendly.
Old-charm meets modern sophistication in this 1885 historic Soulard row home. This home features two primary bedrooms, a king and queen with a modern bathroom with a large custom shower. For additional sleeping, a bunk room featuring a full and twin bed and a pullout sofa with memory foam mattress. The 2nd story covered balcony offers a quiet sitting area with great views of the historic neighborhood. House includes new appliances, laundry, fenced-in backyard and two off-street parking spaces.
The property is around several establishments including all sorts of restaurants, bars and a market within walking distances. The property is close to bush stadium and the union station. The house was clean and the outside area was so inviting. The downside of the place is that it is not handicapped accessible. The pictures of the place had me assuming that the bedrooms were downstairs. You have to step over the front door which one of my companions found out when he tripped and sprained his ankle. Then you have to step down into the foyer and then step up into the living room area. The place had a lot of steps. There were companions that had bad knees so this probably would have made a difference in our stay there. Also we had one roll of toilet paper for the three days and we went to go get more then found some down in the basement when we went to go clean the towels. It would have been nice to be fully stocked. All in all though a beautiful place and very close to everything but be prepared to climb lots of stairs and make sure you are looking down and picking up your feet or you will trip. Also, Jackson emailed and kept in contact through our stay. Four out of five just because of the inconvenience of so many stairs.
Jackson was very responsive pre visit as well as check-in and checkout Comfortable for 6 of us and the cooking and parking was easy. Convenient location to downtown St Louis as well as highways and airport
The host went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. We were concerned about the steps as we were traveling with a toddler. He went and bought baby gates and left them at the property. Also provided a highchair as well as a portable crib. We booked for a sporting event that got canceled due to rain. Host provided us with a list of things to do and places to eat. Great experience, thanks again!
Concerned for safety & unfriendly owner that's hard to communicate with; he will watch you on camera
Upon arrival, with check in at 3pm and no welcome from owner, I messaged at 2pm for access info. Nothing. So I continued to wait. After 7pm (5 hrs later), I went to the address sent from VRBO. I called my assistant to see if she heard anything. Nothing. So I checked my email again, then app inbox and textâŠnothing. I go to the door to see a Ring doorbell. Eventually, no other option but to ring it. Heard a dog barking and a man yell that seemed to come from inside the home, then nothing. Odd? I rang the doorbell again. Nothing. Checked my inbox, VRBO app, and text again. Nothing. Rang doorbell several more times and nothing. No response or communication from doorbell, etc. Began getting frustrated. Then a message on the app with door codeâŠit didnât work. Then a different code via messages. Obviously they were watching me but wont speak. Entered second code and door opened. Still seeming that someone was inside. Called and kept my asst on the phone while yelling âhelloâ several times. She started recording the call. So many doors! Did they guy leave? Walk to one door with knob to lock on my side of the door. I opened to see a sketchy stairwell turning down into an unfinished basement. Not going down there! Go upstairs; find an another odd door with broken lock. Open to see a staircase into an attic. Felt someone was in the house. Left & got a hotel. Owner would not communicate, used sarcasm and no refund. Not even the clean fee unless no review left. Cant post pics or I would!
This fun spot was perfect for all of our outingsâSoulard Farmerâs Market, coffee shops, the Arch, etc. Bring a football to toss in the backyard. The neighborhood was a hit for usâwe felt perfectly safe in allowing our XC son to do his morning runs on his own. We had a maintenance issue when we arrived, but Jackson quickly took care of it within 30 min.. He is also super helpful in offering suggestions for restaurants or other things in the area too. We fell in love with Soulard and will definitely return here in the future.
We enjoyed our stay here so much. Very clean. Great neighborhood. Don't miss the upstairs deck after dark or the huge farmers market just a couple blocks away. This property should be your first choice.
This house was a great find for our family vacation. Great restaurants were in walking distance and itâs an easy drive to all the kid activities we had planned for our trip (Arch, zoo, city museum). Jackson and Rick were very friendly and accommodating. They really did their best to make our stay more enjoyable. If you are planning on staying with kids, I would recommend bringing baby gates for the stairs and to be aware that the bunk beds squeak a lot (which can be problematic if your child is a light sleeper). Other than that, we would stay there again.
Our family really enjoyed how much space the property has it was very clean and was located near just about anything and everything for people of all ages. Definitely would consider staying again. Just a polite suggestion .. the property Would be really great if possibly for longer stays they would have an electric grill or a small fire pit out back that would be awesome and also would suggest a few Night Lights especially at the top of the stairs upstairs for safety and a tall standing lamp in the living room to avoid having to use the ceiling light all the time or maybe a little table lamp in the living room.. we really hope that we will be able to stay again thank you
The house was beautiful! We loved the historic look of the exposed bricks and the modern amenities. The location was great, and the private off-street parking was a big plus.
