This was perfect for our girlsâ weekend. Just a 3-minute drive to all the fun shops and restaurants on historic Main Street. House was clean, comfortable and roomy enough for our group of 5 (can sleep more). John, the host, was easily available and texted several times to make sure all was good. Check-in was easy and all went well. I would recommend this place to others.
After our initial contact when we arrived at the home, the host was difficult to get in touch with. I had to call Vrbo customer service in order to reach the owner. Overhead lights and fans on the first and second floors were not working. The owner came over the second day to fix the problem. If you're looking for a comfortable bed and a place to rest, this is it. Not too many frills and extras, however.
The house had four nice bedrooms so each of us had a very comfy bed. We were close to main street where all the shops and restaurants were. It was super easy to get access code, and the host answered questions quickly! The house was cute and very clean. It was a good choice for our girls weekend!!
First things first, the house is in a great location if youâre looking to spend any time in downtown St. Charles. Itâs just a few blocks walk down to the riverfront, and is incredibly convenient from that aspect. However, the house leaves a lot to be desired and itâs clear the pictures on the listing are old and from when the house had seen much better times. They simply do not reflect the current state of the house. It was dilapidated with peeling paint and evident water damage. The floors were filthy, there was hair in the drains of the showers, and the main trash cans were stuffed full upon arrival. We reached out to the homeowner to figure out when/if we should take the trash to the street without a response, and were lucky that we guessed the right day and location to take them to, otherwise they would have overflowed during the duration of our stay. The house needs a lot of work to be brought up to the level of expectations that the pictures in the listing portrayed. We also tried to reach out regarding check in instructions through the app without a response and had to text the owner to try to figure out when we would be able to get the information that we needed to check-in, which was frustrating as we were traveling and knew our availability before arrival would be spotty. It added another layer of unneeded stress to have to chase them down to understand when we would get the info that we needed while we were on the road. All in all, I would not recommend this house.
Great location and space for our group of friends (and one 12-year-old). The beds were very comfy. As others have said, the shower head upstairs needs an adjustment/replacing. We didnât realize the upstairs bathroom was in one of the bedrooms as opposed to a hallway, so the second bedroom upstairs had to walk through the main bedroom to access the upstairs bathroom, which may be noted in the listing and we just missed that detail. It worked out just fine for our party but wanted to mention so others are aware. The second bedroom upstairs did have its own kitchenette with a sink, so that was a great feature. We had a great experience and would stay here again!
The house was perfect. It was nice and had comforable beds. The only thing to take note is that the work area showed in the photos is no longer there. But there was still plenty of space to get work done.
