This is the sister hotel to the Hollander. Right next to each other and both hotels style the rooms the same. the staff is friendly, free water, they have events you can participate in and you can go to the Hollander next door to eat and I think use the pool, I don't remember. Close to the pier, great location. Just ask for a room on the parking lot side as there is less light.

Great staff! Great location! Amazing food and drink, and some serious specials, at the affiliated, adjacent Tap Room. This is an 1930 building, nearly a hundred years old, so, yes, the are fewer electrical outlets in the room, but it's squeaky clean and super comfortable. Just charming, classic basics. We loved it and WILL be returning soon.

I stayed in a nice suite with kitchen facilities and a patio. I enjoyed a swim & read in their lovely pool area. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant are terrific. Very welcoming experience.The hotel and restaurant well kept and charming. The location is close to museums and the beach and a nice walking area.

Unfortunately, this hotel didn’t live up to the reviews. Our room was tiny, dark, and musty. Our room—especially the bathroom—was extremely small and dark, and the closet didn’t even have a light. We were grateful we could use the amenities at the sister property, The Hollander, because without them, this would have been a one-star stay. We were also woken up by the cleaning staff arguing loudly in the hallway, and overall, the environment felt unprofessional. There were no mini-fridges in the rooms, and when I asked the front desk to store something for me, they directed me to a dirty, cluttered kitchen where my item was nowhere to be found. I’m disappointed, especially given the great online reviews. I’d recommend staying at The Hollander or choosing another hotel entirely.

The simplest way to describe this place is that it’s like coming home to family. The staff in this place are absolutely wonderful. It’s blatant from the moment you arrive that they love their place of work. It’s like arriving to stay with friends and nothing is too much trouble. Affordable luxury with so many unexpected little extras that I wasn’t expecting. Room was beautiful and clean and the free parking with this place sets it above all the other hotels in the area. Easy access from the freeway and ideally located for everything St Petersburg has to offer. I can’t even imagine why you would possibly want to stay anywhere else. Don’t consider it, just book it! You’ll be so delightfully glad that you did! Thank you all for taking such wonderful care of me in your little slice of paradise:-)

Excellent stay! Rooms are clean and the vibe of both Avalon and Hollander next door is amazing. Can’t say enough about the pool area, so nice! The staff at the pool bar, in particular, are so sweet and helpful. Treated us like we regulars.
