Such a shame

Stayed in a family room and had a very late check in, after the "pleasure" of the night porter checking us in to the wrong room and very rudely telling us we owe them £10 for parking, we arrived in our room. Very shoddy, unclean and in good need of a makeover. Carpets worn, cobwebs, hairs in shower, bath and beds and very dusty. I reported this to reception in the morning and was told that they will pass it on, no apology or attempt to compensate for our experience. Such a lovely building but avoid this hotel if you are looking for a a nice family break. Will never stay here again

We never used the Scholars Restaurant because it was noisy and loud with loud music. The room was fine but had no AC and no ventilation except a single window that would open only 6 inches. The location was convenient and on-site parking was excellent. Staff were helpful. Guests were sometime noisy a bit too late at night.

Old building with comfortable rooms

The hotel is old, so it has a unique floor plan which made it kind of fun. The breakfast buffet had many options from which to choose and was fairly standard. The bedroom had a decent amount of space with comfortable beds and a good sized bathroom.

Entrance was difficult to find as on a different street than google maps and the hotel is spread out. The hotel was quite outdated especially in the dining area. No springs left in the furniture. No elevator to second floor only floors above so had to haul luggage. Just very spread out to find anything, dinning, pool… ect

Booked dinner and breakfast when we arrived but the restaurant had no note of our booking and tried to charge for dinner. Rooms need to be updated especially the bathroom. Breakfast was ok, scrambled eggs were burnt both mornings we were there. On leaving they tried to charge us for dinner again. Poor service overall.

Car park and breakfast

I loved the hotel itself the staff were really nice on check in. However to discover the car park was £10 per night just because we booked with hotel.com and if we had have booked through the hotel itself it was free, so any discount you receive by booking through third part bookings the hotel claws this back by charging the car park fee. Also breakfast was horrendous, tjey ran out of bread so no toast they also ran out of breakfast itself had to wait for more to be cooked, then the bacon was pale and white fat. Uuuggghhh. It was cold and miserable. Worse hotel breakfast ever. Then the residence bar was locked at 10:30 and the staff although said they didnt mind giving ua a drink it was very apparent they were not happy. They told us to look for the night porter for another if we wanted one. Who was no where to be seen. It is such a pity because its a lovely hotel and staff were grand. If this was improved on it would have been a lovely stay.

Tired and dated hotel with rooms needing an upgrade especially the bathrooms. Food was adequate but restaurants did have menu options missing each night which is very poor. In a great location and good parking and can't fault the staff

The Hotel is walking distance from Stirling Castle and has easy parking which is great. There are lots of dining options within walking distance as well. The pool was great for a dip after a day out. However the room where breakfast is served was very hot and stuffy and the breakfast was pretty ordinary. Ran out of scrambled eggs! Overall a fantastic place to stay in Stirling.
