Hidden Gem

This hotel is genuinely a hidden gem, whilst it is an old building it has some much character. I’ve never had an evening meal watching a live curling game on ice - food was very good too !

Dated hotel

Easy to find, plenty parking. Check in was straightforward. Big room, fairly comfortable but dated and worn. Took me ages to find the light switches hidden behind the pillows on the bed! Shower wasn't great. Didn't try the bar or restaurant and I left before breakfast was served.

Property was quiet, a bit of noise from, other guests but only to be expected. This is quite a large hotel but we visited in February so I cannot vouch for what it is like in summer. Location is good and is convenient for beach, supermarkets and public transport. The staff we dealt with were efficient and friendly. We would visit again.

Quiet break

Excellent break as normal.the staff makes the hotel.great to see Dorothy and Yvonne.always got a chat for you and so hospitable.Jill came down to see us.she has taken a different position in the hotel.its always good to see her smiling face.food was excellent as normal.had a few hours each day in the pool.even management had a wee gab with is.great to hear about Gail’s honour she works so hard.we will be back again this year.if anyone is looking for a small break to relax with good friendly staff then don’t go by here.a shout out to the young girl behind the bar in the curling rink.great service

Terrific stay

Stay was fantastic.Some small repairs needed in the leisure suite but it did not affect our enjoyment of it. Hotel is a bit dated in places but there was evidence of ongoing work. Hotel is very central to the town. Staff and food were excellent. We had a very relaxing few days and had a wonderful room overlooking the Loch.

A character hotel

A fabulous character hotel that we return to every year as we love the pool. the rooms are spacious, comfortable and warm (we always have a winter stay) and the staff are very friendly and welcoming

Traditional Scottish hotel and curling club.

One night stay prior to getting the ferry from Cairnryan. Reception staff welcoming after a late check in. Large room, well appointed and bright clean bathroom. Connected curling club is an added bonus, the bar area also serves snacks. This presented great value.

Great location

A rather grand hotel on the edge of Stranraer ideal for a stop before or after a ferry sailing from Cairnryan or as a tour base for the Rhinns of Galloway. Good sized room with en suite bathroom. Slightly dated in appearance but good hot water! Great breakfast with freshly cooked hot food to order. Ample parking. Only negative was the room was slightly too hot for my liking - but that's a personal preference
