On the river ~ hot tub ~ serene river views ~ fire pit
Imagine sitting by the fire overlooking the Shenandoah river, surrounded by trees. Go on one of many trails. Come inside and enjoy the indoor fireplace while playing family games or watch a movie on one of 2 TVs.
As you enter a more rural and natural setting, a gravel road will lead you to the River Rock Retreat! Depending on the time of year, all-wheel drive vehicles are recommended as roads can get icy in the winter months!
The house is nice and quiet, with the primary view looking across the River into a cow pasture. All amenities as described, and the nieces and nephews enjoyed the game room. Due to the proximity to the river, it was quite buggy around dusk and dawn. A few things to be aware of if renting and you have a small dog. There is a rather large dog that wandered the neighborhood. Not sure if it was friendly or not, but didnât want to run into him while taking our 12lb terrier out. Also, there were a lot of ticks in the yard, so check your pets every time they go out. And watch out for the poison ivy. Otherwise, we had a nice time while we were there, and the host was responsive to inquiries. Would recommend!
Beautiful, clean house with a great view close enough to local restaurants and the national park. Nicole was very quick to respond to any questions. This was our second stay and we were very pleased to see the newly renovated basement which was so great for the two teens we had with us!
The cabin was perfect for my family of 4! The cabin was clean and decorated so nicely! We loved the nature theme! The hosts were so thoughtful with the items available to us like dishwasher detergent and laundry detergent. The basement floor is finished but empty- I canât wait to see what they do with that space. Bonus- we saw the northern light from Skyline drive and from the cabin on our 2nd night there!
We're a couple in our late 70's that were looking for a quiet retreat. This could not have been more perfect. The layout and features of the house were beautiful. Morning coffee on the deck listening to the bird's symphony and an evening glass of wine around the fire pit to the sound of the bullfrog croaking all while watching and listening to the ripple of the north fork. Most pleasant.
We very much enjoyed our stay at River Rock Retreat and surrounding area. Weather too warm for hot tub and a fire, but we loved sitting above the river and watching the river flow. Mesmerizing! Did some hiking by driving to nearby trails/parks. Sunny all three days. Made for some great sunsets. Our stay felt like home away from homeâŠwithout the cat hair!
We had a fantastic time at River Rock Retreat. Check-in was a breeze. The place was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was great for making meals. Grilled outside as well. Hot tub was excellent and also made smores on the firepit. The location was excellent. Close to town but still felt remote. Nicole was a wonderful host. Very responsive to any needs. I highly recommend this rental.
Weather was bad and couldnât enjoy the deck view of river or make Sâmores at the fire pit, but place was GREAT with cozy gas fireplace and lots of comforting touches. So QUIET and peaceful, nicely decorated and any place that has a magnifying mirror in the bathroom gets extra points with me! đ I had to go to appointments in Strasburg and Woodstock but it was really easy to get to the towns. I liked that there was a water filter pitcher.
This place was so peaceful and beautiful, with lots of special added touches. It was clean and nicely decorated. It was quiet with a lovely view of the Shenandoah. Easily accessible from Strasburg town center. Have already recommended it to friends and family and hope to stay again when in Strasburg.
