The tables in the restaurant are filthy. I sat at 3 different tables and my arms are sticking to the table. I would actually fly over from Switzerland (for free) to teach your staff how to do it properly. Breakfast is like a motorway shack. Coffee and milk always empty and plates at table never cleared. Staff (some) behind bar are pretty useless and can’t be bothered. How they get a job is beyond us. Food below average at best. Staff in spa looking at their phones when you ask a question about towels / bath robes (although spa facilities are good - even if many machines in gym are a little tired). And to cap it all, we were double charged on the room rate. Of course picked up by us but it’s ok because even though the hotel takes the charge on our card and we pay the daily interest, it will be refunded (not the interest of course) in 5 days. Such a shame because it’s a lovely venue but just no management in sight to train the staff. It’s a really easy fix.

Terrible!

Don’t normally review but felt this place was well below par. First room smelt of sewerage and the second was small, hot and uncomfortable this was room 005. Tried to upgrade but was told they were sold out. For £167 a night without breakfast it was over priced and uncomfortable. Mainly paying for the surrounding not the hotel itself. Very dated and not clean. Hairs everywhere and carpets need changing not cleaning!

Lovely service, receptionist Sarah upgraded us very kindly. Room amazing. Views across the garden to the golf course just beautiful. Could do with some type of Aircon although understandable not easily possible for the nature of period building. Spa is lovely, though pool was colder than expected and pool area noisy .

Beautiful old buildings and very cosy and spacious rooms. Only one more need handrails outside the big steps towards to the golf course, its for elderly people

A wonderful hotel, 3 of us stayed in one of the apartments. The apartment was at the back of the hotel about 3 minutes walk to the spa and hotel main reception. The apartment was clean, although there was a minor issues with ants near the window which the hotel was very helpful over. The apartment had 2 very good size bedrooms which slept 3 but there were 2 pull out beds if needed. The kitchen was well equipped and the furniture comfortable. The spa was amazing, lots to do and places to sit.

Check in slow with just one staff member but friendly, however little information given. Worn furnishings throughout. Restaurant poor service. Food bland, service limited and no follow up for checking of meal, deserts, drinks, bill etc. Beautiful building and architectural history sadly let down by poor management of services. Spa is nice although not all options operational. 4th visit here for the beautiful gardens but think we have had our fill unfortunately

Place looks very grand on arrival. Room and facilities very tired. I had hot water coming out of both the hot and cold taps). Spa area could be lovely, but was unloved. Stained tiles/grouting. Pool itself was nice and big but around the edge at the bottom there was a lot of dirt/debris. Despite that the water was clear. Service in bar was poor. It was not particularly busy but took over an hour for the overpriced burger and chips to arrive. Guinness poured out of an £8 can by barman who shook the can as he was pouring

Lovely hotel in great location - more staff needed

Overall we had a brilliant time. The hotel is impressive, think shabby chic. Spent two nights in a junior suite. Great location for walking into Stratford Upon Avon. The gardens and views are beautiful and the spa was great. We had an evening meal there and two breakfasts - you can’t fault the food, it was delicious. The issue was not enough staff so we had to wait a long time for our meal and breakfast on the 2nd day was chaos due to only 2 people looking after 117 guests. Despite this, we would def stay there again and loved it, but with better management of staff the experience could be epic. The staff are trying their best, there’s just not enough of them. If you want a classic period building in beautiful surroundings, this place is for you.

Stratford equivalent of faulty towers.

lovley location and that is as far as it goes. had a phone call morning of thee stay asking to move us to an apartment, (cheaper than the 2 rooms i had booked). i enquired about the room costings but was never supplied an answer on receiving a refund on the balance. arrived at hotel and no room keys. Had to wait for keys, they did give complimentary drinks. evening meal was very slim choice of meals. food was very sub par and we kept having to prompt staff on items missing. one drinks order did not arrive. apartment was ok but only one double bed and not two as requested. everything was very dated and tatty, poor standard of overall place. really disappointing stop

A terrific old building surrounded by beautiful country side. The room was a lovely size and extremely comfortable. Great to sit outside on the terrace having a drink and looking at the super gardens. A great stay and a place we will stay at again.

Reasonable rooms

I though the building and gardens speak for itself in the pictures, it was a great place to soak in culture but for someone on business time, accessing wifi was problematic , it kept dipping out. It was also very hot in the rooms with no aircon. The baths were small and the rooms were okay
