The hotel itself was pleasant, and the banquet dinner was well worth attending. Both the front desk and the restaurant staff were welcoming, and the happy-hour offering was particularly good. The pool was closed, seasonal, I presume. Unfortunately, my experience with the hotel’s lost-and-found process was disappointing. I checked out early in the morning and inadvertently left my headphones in my room. I realised this shortly after arriving at the airport and contacted the hotel immediately. I was advised that the matter would be followed up with housekeeping. Despite providing my contact details and home address at check-in and offering to cover the cost of shipping the item back to the UK, I have not received any follow-up communication. I am confident the headphones were left in the room I had just vacated, and the hotel was notified promptly, leaving little uncertainty about where the item would have been found. While I fully acknowledge that the responsibility ultimately rests with me, timely follow-up in situations like this is an important aspect of guest service. Regrettably, this experience has affected my overall impression, and I would be unlikely to stay at this hotel again.

The furnitures are old. The lobby does not have chairs. By chairs i meant sofas, not the big hardwood chinese furnitures. The hotel needs modern updates and makeovers. Breakfast buffets need fruits and better coffees

An used-to-be good hotel ruined by new "policy change". I stayed here dozens of times for business travels to Taiwan since 2015. Used to get free perks like pens, bottle of red wine, birthday cake, and even free upgrade to suite. This time, booked through Expedia instead of corporate contract. Paid (pre-authroization) full amount for my stay (12 nights) when checked in. Days later, use laundry service for 2 shirts as I always did. Next day, I did not get shirts back but was asked for pay NT$500 cash. Asked front desk why can't they just put charge on the room as they always did. The answer is due to new "policy change". Even paid in full (NT$64K), I was not allowed to use any service without more advanced charge (NT$1000/day). This is insulting. Totally ridiculous. Guest already pre-authorized credit card for full amount of the stay. Hotel can always add more charge based on real expenses. Just like how restaurants add tips on authorized food charges. Why can’t guest put small charges like laundry services on room? Does the hotel really think guest would refuse to pay the small amount? Where’s the hospitality hotels should have? Unfortunately, Howard Plaza Hotel Taipei is no longer the same one I knew. Don't blame on laundry service room and front desk persons. They were just following and executing the "policy". The responsible person is the one in management team who came up this kind of stupid policy.

The hotel room was nice. Half of the rooms faced the inside of the hotel and half faced outside. My room had a nice, deep soaking bath tub. The location was easy access to the MRT. The breakfast was pretty bland
