Outdoors.

Parking. There is a lighted parking area in front of the house that fits up to 3 cars and an area at the bottom of the driveway that can fit several more. Long, private driveway (over 1,000’ from Brown Hill Road).

Recreation. Out the Front Door! There are several private trails that cross our woodlands and allow guests to enjoy hiking, birdwatching, biking (mountain or road), XC skiing, and snowshoeing right out the back door. Mill Brook (with trout) is off Cleveland Hill Road. Canoeing at nearby Great Hill Pond, Bearcamp Pond* and Chocorua Lake is delightful.

Trout Pond. Our trout pond is a quiet place to retreat from the busy world and commune with nature. Stocked with 10-14” brown trout (catch and release please). And no fishing license is required since it is on private property. Serious (and licensed!) fishermen can access several great trout streams such as the Swift River in Tamworth and the Pine River in Madison.

Swimming. Great swimming in natural settings is yours at Bearcamp Pond* and Chocorua Lake* as well as in mountain streams like Wonalancet Brook (Brrrr!). *Pass available at 28 Grover Lane.

Hiking. We are less than 5 miles to the trail heads going into the Sandwich Range of the White Mountain National Forest up Mt. Whiteface (4,019’), Passaconway, and Paugus. Sandwich Dome and Mt. Chocorua trail heads are short drives away. Excellent trails.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful retreat in its peaceful, remote location. We spent Friday tubing down the slow-flowing, crystal-clear Saco River before arriving to check in. It was the perfect start to our weekend. The home was immaculate, and very comfortable, and the lush green lawn was perfect for an evening game of Spike Ball, and sitting by the fire pit, The lovely mountain view is a 10. One of the highlights of the weekend was fishing in the private trout pond- both from the shore as well as from the canoe, which was conveniently provided at the water’s edge.We especially loved having both porches available—the screened porch was wonderful for evening card games, while the front porch was the morning coffee spot. The open floor plan gave everyone plenty of room to spread out while still enjoying time together. The bedrooms were also spacious and comfortable. There was plenty to do nearby. We visited the Tamworth Farmers’ Market Saturday morning, explored some of the local hiking trails, and took a trip to North Conway to visit Jeb’s and have dinner at Flatbread Company. The owner was immediately responsive and helpful, and both check-in and check-out were completely seamless. Everything about our stay was easy and enjoyable. We truly loved our time at this home and would happily stay here again. It was a wonderful combination of peaceful surroundings, comfortable accommodations, and convenient access to everything we wanted to do. Highly recommended!
