Candlelight Cottage is nestled within pretty gardens full of glorious wisterias, old cherry trees, and sweet smelling roses, jasmine and honeysuckles. This gorgeous peaceful property has plenty of space to socialise and also to escape and relax in a quiet corner. There is a barbecue with pizza oven, 3 outdoor dining tables & several quiet seating areas tucked away in the gardens. Ideal for a large family of all ages, with two bedrooms on the ground floor, a huge 36ft long characterful living room with 3 comfortable sofas, 65 inch Samsung smart TV, a cosy wood burner, a dining hall, plus another dining area in the well equipped kitchen which overlooks the garden. High speed fibre broadband. With a private luxury 6 seat hydrotherapy Hot tub in one of the the partly walled private gardens, its makes a perfect place to completely unwind and count the stars. A delightful, quintessentially English country cottage, perfect for those special occasions, romantic breaks and family gatherings. Five bedrooms, Super king, King, double & 4 single beds with 3 bathrooms. Dressing gowns & towels are provided. The cottage is ideally located in the peaceful village of Littlehempston, less than a 10-minute walk to two friendly village pubs, perfect for an evening out. Or if you fancy Al fresco dining at home, enjoy the gas BBQ & Pizza oven in the garden. Just 2 miles from the historic town of Totnes on the River Dart with cruises down river to Greenway and Dartmouth. A cosmopolitan place midway between Dartmoor and the glorious coast, it has a vast array of independent shops, weekly market, galleries, leisure centre and many lovely restaurants, bistros and cafés. Dartington estate is nearby & the seaside towns of Paignton and Torquay are within a 20 minutes’ drive, and it is just a 30-minute drive to the yachting haven of Dartmouth; the coastline between Dartmouth and Kingsbridge has many stunning beaches, hidden coves and fantastic coastal walks. Leisure activities nearby include golf, horse riding, fishing and water sports. Salcombe is a 40 minute drive away. A stunning location that has something for everyone and where holiday memories will be made. Many shops, pubs and restaurants within 2 miles, village pub a few minutes walk. One small or medium size well behaved dog is welcome and stays for free (if you want to bring more than one, please contact me before booking thank you) there are two enclosed gardens, a nearby secure dog walking field, Wanderlust Walkies (payable locally) and with a dog friendly village pub, will be well catered for! Parking for 3/4 cars in gated gravel drive next to the cottage.

Birthday Celebrations

We stay at Candlelight Cottage to celebrate a family 50th & 80th Birthday. We had the most amazing stay, the cottage was everything we had wished for with lots of extra touches. Lots of little places to hide away if it all got too much!! The dogs loved it too. We hired a caterer for the Saturday night. We visited the Pig & Whistle and Tally Ho pubs, both in walking distance - but maybe not for the 80 year old! Would definitely go back. xx

On arrival we were met by Charlotte and given a tour of the cottage. We were amazed with the actual size of the property. We thought the welcome pack of scones, Cake and other essentials was a very nice touch and unexpected. The exterior was varied and plenty of space and seating for all the family. The younger members of the family (17 to 23) enjoyed the hot tub. Everything we needed for the stay including washer dryer towels etc we’re provided and we really wanted for nothing during our stay. Overall we had a very enjoyable week at Candlelight cottage and would recommend to other families

Lovely English country cottage

We had a great week with family, including 3 grandparents. The gardens are lovely and the cottage well furnished and catered for all our needs. It’s a 5-10 mins walk from 2 pubs ( both are shut on Mondays) there’s no real village but Totnes Morrisons was only 5 mins drive away. A couple of the oldies found access a bit challenging around the cottage are there are some steps on the ground floor between different areas and also between different garden areas. Charlotte left us some thoughtful provisions on arrival including a delicious home made cake & scones with cream & jam.

Beautiful cottage in Devon

Our host was excellent she communicated well prior to arrival and allowed extra pets to stay. The location is tucked away on a quite country road parking is not next to the property but further up the road, however it is a secure area. There are 2 bedrooms on the ground floor and 3 upstairs all with comfortable beds. The living room was huge with plenty of seating for a large family. The cottage itself was well equipped with everything you could need. The owner lives next door however we barely saw her only when topping up the chemicals in the hot tub. We had a wonderful welcoming gift of essentials and a home-baked cake. I would definitely recommend candlelight cottage, we all had a wonderful stay.

A beautiful wrap around garden with something different to see every time you venture out. Well equipped kitchen and gorgeous decor especially in the spacious lounge. Just a short walk to The Tally Ho Pub. Great location. Owner was lovely and was available if needed. Fantastic place.

Great week with the family in a lovely family sized home

We had a lovely time at the cottage. The accommodation was superb and helped to give us all a very relaxing time. The welcome pack was really appreciated and meant we could settle in for the first night without having to worry about basic supplies. Amazing cottage and location!

Only good things to say about this cottage! Beautifully decorated, everything has been thought of, very quiet and peaceful, hot tub was a lovely treat and it has beautiful gardens. We loved our stay here and everything to do is so close. Charlotte was so helpful from start to finish and has everything covered for the stay! We hope to come back again

60th birthday weekend with family

Candlelight Cottage provides the perfect base for exploring Devon. The cottage is picture book Devon with wonderful, interesting and quirky gardens to all sides. Very private and fully enclosed great for dogs. The property itself is ideal for family breakfasts and dinners (kitchen has everything) and great gas bbq and outdoor seating areas. (Outdoor hot tub is lovely) Charlotte and all of her family very welcoming and clearly have tried to think of everything to help people relax into their holiday. I would recommend the cottage for all types of groups, fully equipped, very dog friendly and plenty of space and bathrooms. Thank you Charlotte for the loan of your cottage - wonderful relaxing week

What a privilege to stay in this extremely comfortable old cottage, in a perfect spot half-way between the Riviera coast and Dartmoor. Our family of four spent a much-needed post-lockdown week in this stunning property and had an amazing time. The owners have thought of everything, and for a classic Devon cottage holiday with all the little extras and luxuries, this is simply perfect.

Wonderful cottage

The cottage was perfect for us: plenty of space indoors and tastefully decorated, the both front and back gardens are beautiful and the hot tub was a real treat. Charlotte was very welcoming and added some nice touches that helped us settle in and feel at home straight away. The cottage is set in stunning countryside with Totnes just a short five minute drive away. It is also easy to get to nearby beaches. We would definitely stay again; highly recommended. Fabulous week at Candlelight exploring south devon

This was a delightful cottage with ample room inside and little touches which made us feel at home. The pretty green gardens and hot tub added a perfect ending to our days out in the area. Very peaceful location, but easy access to shops and local pubs. With our stay occurring during Covid 19, Charlotte provided cleaning products, hand gel, gloves- everything we may need to feel Covid safe.

Great Great Cottage
