Posted Mar. 20, 2019 on Hotels
Excellent hotel, staff friendly and helpfull, speak English well, shuttle picked us up and drop us on different venues on the Camino route, cafeteria has very limited menu, no other restaurants close by, we would recommend this hotel for all camino pelgrims

Good Business Trip

Posted Feb. 25, 2019 on Hotels
Hotel is functional, clean and was a good location for my Business Trip. Wifi was not great for streaming, but fine for emails Breakfast was good, and a nice little cafe area throughout the day. Both Restaurants in the basement seem to be out of business, so you will need to drive to find food

Better than you think...

Posted Oct. 14, 2018 on Expedia
Pros: Relaxed, unrushed, away from the hustle of traditional holiday resorts. Got to mention the great service from Susannah and Christina, and the others
Cons: The gym could do with a makeover. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room.
Location: Hire a car. Buy a map and just explore Galicia/Portugal. Beautiful! Will be back again.
This was a last minute booking on Expedia looking for sunshine at an affordable price. Having browsed and booked on a Thursday night, we were on our way to Tui in Galicia on Saturday morning. Everything from the flight, car rental, and 20 min drive to the hotel was pain free and easy, leading us to think 'Something's bound to happen'. Arriving at Hotel Alphonso in glorious sunshine and parking directly outside (plenty of space) still left us with a sense of impending doom. Checking in was straightforward, and making our way to our room it was clear that some refurbishment has taken place. New. clean, smart decoration with some bits still being worked on, an effort is being made to attract visitors. Our room was spacious and, apart from tea/coffee making facilities, had everything we needed. The balcony looked over the rear of the building. Although close to one of the main routes into Tui, there was still enough of a view to forested hills and local houses . There's no denying that Hotel Alphonso is in an industrial area. It doesn't pretend to be a sophisticated and exclusive hotel...which is great. This meant I didn't feel I had to be sophisticated either and, in all honesty, I had one of the most relaxed holidays ever. The hotel clientele were not the Club 18-30 crowd and there was a very polite ambience between many nationalities. I suspect this is a hidden gem used by the walking/rambling groups. You'll need a car to explore the surrounding area, which is stunning

A very nice clean and comfortable hotel only spoilt by dogs nearby barking most of the night and a woman having a very loud conservation on phone at 6am in corridor.
