Great location and views! Property not as advertised and needs TLC.
This property is advertised as 'newly renovated', and 'well-appointed' with 'a brand new kitchen with modern appliances'. Our initial impressions on approaching the property were positive. The location is fabulous and we really liked the views. Unfortunately, our impressions changed rapidly upon entering the house. It was very obviously not newly renovated although I concede that the kitchen and bathrooms are reasonably up to date and the linen on the beds was fresh. Carpet in most rooms needs replacing. It is dirty, stained and we had to put down picnic blankets in the living space so the kids could play on the floor as their legs were getting dirty from playing on the carpet. The property manager kindly organised for an extra vacuum the next day but really the carpet needs replacing. The next thing we noticed was a musty smell in 2 of the downstairs bedrooms. This turned out to be a film of mould on the inside of the window glass and windowsills which we promptly cleaned as no-one could sleep in there otherwise. Mould blooms were also evident in the upstairs ensuite above the shower. The downstairs double bedroom had a significant hole in the plasterwork on the ceiling above the bed which was also damp. All windowsills were covered in a thick layer of dust as were the lower shelves of some of the furniture in the living room and the skirting boards. The kitchen was clean overall but the oven was not clean and oven trays were in bad condition. There were lots of plates, cups, glasses, utensils, etc but the saucepan situation was dire. There were a couple of small saucepans, some buckled and scratched non-stick frypans which were not healthy or effective to cook with, and there was not one big pot with which to cook pasta for our large group. There were large live cockroaches seen on our third day in the property which was disturbing for the children and adults alike. The furniture in the lounge is generally inadequate. The lounge chairs/couches are dusty, dirty old and sagging which caused allergic reactions in one of our guests. Another with a bad back couldn't actually sit in any of them. One of the tribunks kept losing a screw which held the ladder in place for the person on the top bunk. No flyscreens on windows meant that bugs had free access. We had to open windows due to the heat as there is no A/C. I could go on but will stop there. Overall, very unsatisfactory and especially due to the exorbitant price tag for 4 nights in peak season.
