☆ THE CABIN
This is a 1960's cabin that oversees the wonderful Lac Bataille. Renovated with our touch, this cabin is welcoming and has everything you'll need to enjoy a few days out in nature.
Aplas cabin is perfect for indoor/outdoor living. It features an open concept main area where the kitchen flows into the living room with the view of the water. The porch makes for a great coffee in the morning. On the side of the cabin you have a massive sun room where you can escape and be at peace. You can easily spend the whole day in the sun room. It has a living room, bar fridge and full dining room table.
Going down to the water, our cabin has the LARGEST green space on the lake. There is patio furniture, a hammock, lawn chairs, a 240 sq ft dock, two [2] paddle boards, one [1] inflatable kayak, and other games in the shed.
☆ BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 (green accent wall room) features views of the lake, queen bed, storage underneath, ceiling fan and dresser. Bedroom 2 (maroon room) features a large window facing east for great morning sun (night time view of the moon from bed!), ceiling fan, bedside tables and dresser. Bedroom 3 features views of the lake, a single bed with a pull out single mattress, small dresser and portable fan.
☆ KITCHEN
The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. It’s an open style kitchen with stainless steel appliances like electric stove, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, lots of counter space, and a convenient kitchen island.
Kitchen is stocked with:
- Basic seasonings,
- Pots and pans,
- Coffee (pods and grounded coffee) & tea
- Utensils, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and more.
☆ BATHROOMS
There is one full bathroom with a full sized shower/tub.
- Soap
- Shampoo & conditioner
☆ ENTERTAINMENT
We have a full bookshelf of games to play with your friends and family. We have a few lawn games like spike ball, soccer, football etc. You’ll have access to two stand up paddle boards, and an inflatable kayak. Life jackets can be found in the shed by the water.
☆ WATER SYSTEM
This cabin get water from the LAKE. Water is clean and tested every year. It’s still recommended to not drink the water. We will provide enough potable water for your stay. Water is perfectly fine for showers or baths and to clean the dishes. Keep in mind that we are on a septic system so be mindful of what you put down the drain.
☆ GOING DOWN TO THE WATER
You can access the lake by taking the stairs in front of the cabin OR by taking the path off the driveway. The latter option is recommended for Seniors or those with difficulty walking (it's a lot of stairs!).
☆ GRASS AREA
We are fortunate enough to have a massive flat area where you can do any and all activities. There is outdoor patio furniture, a hammock and an outdoor fire pit. There is also a shed near the water with activities.
☆ THE DOCK
The dock is 240 sq ft. It has a ladder for easy in and out and deep enough to jump right into the water. Makes for a perfect spot to soak up the sun on a towel or bring over the hammock for a relaxing snooze.
☆ THE LAKE
Located in a perfect little bay, you are able to enjoy the water in private or venture out onto the main part of the lake. You can walk out from the sand/grass area to get into the water or take a jump off the dock. If you go to the main part you’ll notice we are in the middle of Lac Bataille. If you’re up for an adventure you are able to go around the lake as well as visit our larger neighbouring lake Lac Rheaume. This lake does allow speedboats and jet-skis so please be aware of your surroundings. If you’re up for a nice walk/hike/run, the lake is about 6 kms around.
☆ PARKING
There is enough parking on the property for 7-8 cars. There is a concrete slab that easily fits 2 vehicles, 3 additional cars can fit behind the concrete slab and an additional 2-3 cars can fit on adjacent parking spaces next to street. I
☆ BBQ
Regular 3-burner propane BBQ is included. It will be equipped with necessary tools to cook as well as extra tank if needed.
☆ OUTDOOR WOOD FIRE
There is a fire pit at the bottom where guests are able to setup a campfire and enjoy the beauty of living out in the country. There will be dry pieces of firewood available for use. We will inform you if a fire is permitted or if there is a fire ban put out by the municipality.
☆ SUNROOM
Alpas cabin is equipped with a HUGE sunroom where you can easily spend most of your time in. Sunroom is equipped with a dining room table that can seat 6-8, a bar fridge, and a full living room with views of the lake. There is a ceiling fan in the middle of the room and multiple electrical outlets. Three out of 4 walls have windows that can open which makes it feel like you’re outside without having to worry about any bugs.
☆ CELL RECEPTION
We suggest turning on “WiFi Assist” as it helps boost the signal enough to make a phone call. The cell reception on its own isn't always reliant, but we've never had issues calling with WiFi assist on. The main road is less than a 10 minute drive if you do experience any issues (we have never had to do that though!).
☆ INTERNET
The wifi at the cottage is great for streaming your favourite Netflix shows, taking a video call for work, or uploading your vacation to social media. The signal is strong enough to reach all around the cottage. Wifi can sometimes reach the dock on a good day, and generally works great up to the fire pit.
☆ HEATING & COOLING
There are electric baseboards in every room if you ever need to warm the cabin up as well as a wood stove (fire place). You can turn on the heat by adjusting the thermostat on the wall of each room. Most rooms are equipped with a ceiling fan for those warmer nights. The small bedroom doesn’t have a ceiling fan but will have a portable fan. Guests: please always return the settings back to how you found them!
☆ TOILET & SINK
We are on an eco-friendly septic system. This means that anything that goes down the drain will eventually end up back in the ground! Please be mindful of what you put down the toilet and sink. Avoid disposing of “flushable” wipes, diapers, dental floss, personal care products, fats oils and grease and any other garbage. Also avoid putting any chemicals down the drain as well.
☆ GARBAGE & RECYCLING
There is a garbage and recycling bin on the driveway on the concrete slab. You can place your garbage into the respected bins.
☆ PETS
Our cabin is dog friend friendly, we just request that dogs are disclosed to us. We also request no dogs on furniture like the beds or couches, and please be advised there could be additional charges incurred for any damage caused by pets.
☆ PARTIES
Now we all love a good time, however this cabin is a NO PARTY cabin. Please be respectful to our neighbours and this slice of heaven. Playing music at the cottage or by the water is no issue, just be mindful of it as it gets later in the evening.
☆ SMOKING
Absolutely no smoking or vaping in the cabin.
You will have access to the entire property besides the crawl space which is all just utilities.
Getting to the property through your phone's map apps is very straight forward. Most of the drive is paved roads and the last 10% is a maintained dirt/gravel road with plenty of room.
We live in Ottawa and not too far from the property.
DO NOT block the “street” as our neighbour has a right of way down a part of our property to get to theirs. Please park on the concrete pad and laneway behind it. You can also park on the other side of the “street” on our extra parking spots.
COTTAGE LIVING
This is a reminder that this property is a family cottage, not a modern brand new built home only used for Airbnb.
Country living is filled lots of friends from bugs to wild life.
From time to time there may be power and wifi outages due to a storm or strong winds. These outages don't usually last too long but can happen.
It's recommend to not drink water from tap since the water comes straight from the lake. We will provide potable water.
Another reminder that we are on a septic system, please be very mindful of what you put down the drain and flush down the toilet.
There is no A/C (fans in all rooms, great window breezes!)
Wood burning fireplace & baseboard heating for those cool nights.
