The town wasn't very big and was easy to get around. The hotel was very convenient and located within a few blocks of the pier where we went to Stan Stephens Glacier tour.

If you're looking for a cheap place to stay in Valdez, this place is the one. It's not fancy nor is it trying to be. It's just trying to be a place with a small breakfast, and decent rooms. The walls are thin, the rooms are small, but you can't beat the price, the place is clean, and the staff is very helpful and friendly. There are a ton of places within walking distance--two breweries are two blocks away, the harbor is three blocks away, the museum is two blocks away...
We travelled with 2 other couples & every room had stained bedsheets. Carpets were stained & dirty. Floors all wonky. Windows locks were wood sticks. We are aware this is a small remote hotel/motel. What we did not realize was that it was an old container hotel put together for oil clean-up workers back when Valdez suffered that horrible oil spill. Place needs work & more attention to cleanliness.
Front desk clerk was very friendly and helpful. Clean and convenient location to our boat cruise.

It sits at the west corner of the town. Convenient to everything. A few minutes drive to the harbor. Five minutes walk to its civic center. Great location! The hotel is average since it is old but good enough for a road trip. It provides all you need like shared fridge to store food, ice, breakfast and laundry.
You certainly get what you pay for. I ignored a lot of the reviews because I only needed the room for a few hours to sleep, but sleep eluded me the entire night. Painful mattress, too thin pillows, noise in the pipes that were coming out of the ceiling- no working outlets for the lamps that come with the room, no bathroom fan. My friend in another room had an amazimg experience with maintenance, I just didn't bother.
However, aside from that, my experiences with staff were very pleasant. Very convenient location, and check-in and check-out were super easy. What was in the room was very clean and the other reviews weren’t lying about the water pressure!

Liked: Room comfort
Good location off beaten path. Rooms are rustic. Felt very safe.
Cheap price for the area comes with basic amenities. Don’t expect luxury when you stay here but it’s a clean, dry places to lay your head down and the staff is friendly.
This is a unique hotel-- originally built to house the workers who cleaned up the Exxon Valdez oil spill. So good job on continuing to make the housing useful. The Keystone rooms are basic, so don't expect anything luxurious. But the bathroom was clean and the bed comfortable. When I asked to be moved to a quieter area of the hotel, I was given a room at the very back which was indeed less full. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Breakfast may be simple, but it's there every morning from 5:30 - 9:00am. Coffee, tea, English muffins and bread for toasting, fruit cups, sausages and sausage patties. Read the reviews to get an idea of whether the Keystone will suit your needs. I was happy with my several-night stay.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Had to ask twice for hot water. Second morning no hot water and no staff to reset breaker on hot water heater.
We checked in and given room keys and the room was dirty … bed sheets dirty ( bed was made) , empty bottles on counter, wet washcloths in tub, garbage in room… went to the desk, no apology etc. I had to say we need a new room. New room clean, no towels. Have to ask for them.
The hotel smells of solvent real bad.

Would not stay again. Needs updating. Sign says breakfast daily but didn't the day we left also no one at the front desk to check out.
The staff were really friendly and helpful, however the building was in rough shape. Our initial room smelled very strongly of oil, but after we switched rooms it was much better.
No frills hotel conveniently located. Lot’s of hot water and fire hose pressure. Breakfast is served starting at 5:30am. Walls are thin so you can hear other guests. Check in was good and fast. No refrigerator or room temperature control.
Very run down, there was a smell like fuel in hall, very small rooms, usually no one at the desk, but fantastic showers! No microwave/refrig in rooms (no room for them) and the available refrig/freezer for guests was not clean. Leakage under the water/coffee machine … not sure how they pass food area inspections. No knives in the breakfast area so we used our own from our food bag in our car. Not a place we could ever recommend or would choose to stay in again. But we loved the beauty of Valdez and the room was a means to the end of being there.
