Room was good. There is a smoke detector that has an absolutely obnoxious green light that blinks and blinks and blinks. Hard to sleep with it blinking. Heat was hard to regulate.

The bed was rock hard, and the mattress was noticeably lower at the headboard than at the foot, making it uncomfortable enough that I slept with my head at the foot of the bed. Breakfast was very disappointing. Day one offered only thin bacon. When I asked if eggs were being made, the breakfast attendant told me, “We no longer make eggs on Wednesdays,” and said there was nothing she could do. Other mornings consisted only of unappetizing pre-packaged items. It wasn’t until day three, Friday—after reporting the issue to the front desk—that bacon and eggs were available. My stay ended early due to a serious family emergency involving a family member being in an auto accident. The front desk advised us to check out early, stating they believed the manager would approve the early checkout and reimbursement. Based on that guidance, we checked out. Later, I received a message stating early cancellation would result in a charge for one additional night, with no consideration given to the emergency or the direction we were given. I booked through Hotels.com due to a significantly lower rate. Hotels.com was willing to refund the final night but required hotel approval, which the manager refused. I was later told that if I had booked directly, the final night would have been canceled due to the emergency. This was my first experience with a Marriott brand after 250+ nights with Hilton, and it will be my last.

What wasn’t was the fact that within 10 minutes of walking into the motel and going to my room I became seriously sick via some allergic reaction which I never experienced befor in my 70 years. Spent a sleepless night contemplating going to the ER. Consequently our planned 3 night stay turned into one night with the privilege of paying for three
