BEACH HOUSE • Oasis - 50m to Dream Beach

Small holiday home by the sea in Portugal, 50m to the beach in Salema (awarded by "The Guardian" at number 15 of the top 50 most beautiful beaches in the world besides otherwise e.g. Seychelles). Idyllic fishing village with a dream beach, top restaurants right by the sea. The Algarve has the most hours of sunshine in Europe. The former fisherman's house with courtyard / garden has been lovingly renovated and offers privacy and architectural highlights for up to four people.

Former fisherman's house on two floors with a private courtyard. Architectural highlights in Moroccan style. Located in the beautiful old town center of Salema. The excellent beach is less than a minute's walk away.

The living room:
From the entrance you can access the open kitchen, living and dining area with a view of the oasis-like courtyard, which is attractively designed with high-quality stone work. A small decorative pool (not for swimming) rounds off the cozy ambience. With a book in hand and your feet in the cold pool, you can relax here on hot summer days and recharge your batteries in peace. The bathroom with double shower and shower toilet is on the ground floor of the house. The two open bedrooms on the upper floor are each equipped with a queen-size bed under the cozy sloping roof. Each bedroom has direct access to the sun terrace with lounge furniture. Wonderful night's sleep, you can hear the wind in the palm trees and remove the surf.

The neighborhood
Within a radius of 100 meters: beach, restaurants, small supermarket, bars, shop, kayak rental and stand up paddling etc., café, bread cart, fish sales directly after catching. A small “fitness garden” with a sea view is beautiful - a public green area with fitness equipment for morning sports. There are traces of dinosaurs to be discovered on the beach. The beach is beautiful and not overcrowded even in summer. Salema is a charming fishing village with individual tourism without castles, a small microcosm. Boat trips are available from the beach to see dolphins and discover secluded bays and grottos. Within a 20 minute drive you can reach the town of Lagos with its beautiful old town alleys for strolling, shopping and eating out as well as the west coast with its wild and lonely beaches. Only about 3 km from the house is the 'Parque da Floresta', one of the most beautiful 18-hole golf courses in Europe and the first-class wellness and beauty spa. In the hinterland, the Monchique mountain range lures with healing springs. Wonderful hikes can be undertaken at any time of the year. B. along the coast with fantastic views. Other activities in the area include horse riding, yoga, karting (autodrome), various water and leisure parks, water sports such as sailing, jet skiing or surfing, cultural excursions. At Cabo de Sao Vincente with its famous lighthouse you can experience wonderful sunsets. Salema, a wonderful place in a fascinating region full of opportunities for discovery.

The house was absolutely gorgeous and we lived every minute of our stay. The walk to the beach was easy and quick. Lots of restaurant's to choose from and only minutes away by foot. This house is a gem and we would rent in again.

We absolutely loved our time at this beach house! Although we ended up having some rain during our stay, we were more than happy to enjoy the beautiful accommodations. The kitchen was extremely well appointed with literally everything you could need. The outdoor spaces were stunning and peaceful. And Peter was an extremely generous host who assisted us significantly when our rental car situation went awry. Overall, we were so happy with our decision to drive the extra miles and spend time here.

Really convenient, once we found it! Exterior of the exact apartment was a little confusing to identify, although the directions for how to get there were detailed. Once we got there, we had a wonderful time- just steps to the beach, with several other places to hike to. By car, we were within reach of a number of other beautiful sites. Everything was spotless and ready for us. Outdoor areas were a bonus! Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Lovely accommodation so close to the Ocean! The town is perfect for a quiet get away and very off the tourist track it reminded me a lot of Southern California with the surfers! Fantastic host who was flexible on our check out (Thanks!) We plan to come back later in the year.

Lovely!

Beautiful apartment in a lovely small beach town - salema. The place has everything you could need for a short stay. Is on a nice quite back street that is a very short walk from the public parking spaces, the ocean and many resturants. Host provided ample informatoin on how to find the place and check-in which made the process very smooth. Would definitely stay there again!

This beautiful home has all of the details that I could have hoped for! We stayed just one night of our vacation here but wished it would have been more. A quaint seaside town we were located just steps from the beach and ocean and we able to enjoy a space away from the masses. This home has a private plaza, a private balcony and a lot of character. Highly recommend if your looking for a quiet home base in the Algarve!

Beautiful and unique stay in perfect location

This amazing home was the perfect way to end our first visit across Portugal. The decor was really gorgeously done in Moroccan style, excellent and fitting for the beach and town of Salema. There was plenty room and it offered serenity and a unique experience. The place is one block from the most gorgeous beach, restaurants, bars, and walkways. Excellent communication with the host. I would stay again and it was a perfect place to wake up on my 50th birthday. I wish we were able to stay longer! Thank you!

Live like a local in paradise!

This property was a jewel of a find for those that want an alternative to a touristy hotel and want privacy. The hosts attention to detail was amazing- gorgeous Moroccan decor and cozy courtyard and rooftop. The only caution is to make sure you can handle the steep stairs to the bedrooms and trek uphill from the parking lot w your luggage but we are all in our 70’s and managed! It was so great to be able to walk to great restaurants and sit on the benches on the seaway soaking up the view or watching the tractor pull fishing boats into the sea. Salema has an authentic laid back vibe that has been lost in much of the algarve. We are so grateful to have chosen it!

Dream Stay

I stayed here with my mom. Both of us agreed that this was our dream house. The pictures are beautiful but the reality is truly breathtaking. You walk down an alley with what looks like older homes, and would have no idea what waits behind the door. We were only in Portugal for a couple of days and only got to stay here for one night, and I regretted not staying there for the whole time. In addition, Salema is a hidden gem. It has a gorgeous beach/cliffs, great restaurants, yet nowhere near the tourists of every other beach area. I can’t say enough about the stay. If you’re going to Portugal, or even if you live in Portugal, stay here.

Loved it so much we extended our stay

Our family of 3 stayed in Peter's lovely redone fisherman's villa in April and fell in love with the region. We traveled to the western beaches to surf, we played at the 'home' beach, and walked the cliffs in the towns to the east. Overall, this was an excellent spot to base our adventures. I wish we'd had even more time because the lounge spaces at the house are fantastic. I loved watching the swallows from the top balcony at dusk. There are just enough restaurants and things to do. Lagos and the like are way too busy for us. Do your self a favor and go to the Indian restaurant and don't tell your friends about Salema- Lets keep it small and cute. Thanks Peter for everything!

We never got to stay at the location due to a flying ant infestation problem. I would not recommend anyone stay here. The host has been less than understanding in this situation. Just so you are aware there are also several cats that seem to live outside the front door. Thank you

If you think you just go to holiday if you chose this offer then you go totally wrong! Sure - you travel to Salema. That's right! But when you enter 'Saudade' you will be kicked out of time and place. You dive into a manifested dream of the phantasie of a person you probably will never meet but you will love her effort to make her dream come true from the first moment. Sure - not cheap - but you'll will never find a KICK like this very soon! WE loved it and were totally out of time and place as we stayed in 'Saudade'. Nice beach house

We enjoyed our short stay in Salema at this beach house. The ambience is lovely with the moorish architecture expressed inside, and intimate outdoor courtyard space. This spot is also just a 5 minute walk from the beach and surrounding restaurants.Items of note:We stayed with our young (5 year old) daughter and while she did just fine with the steep stairs, this might not be a great place for toddlers. The kitchen is small but you could probably cook a basic meal so long as you remember to stop by the grocery store outside of town. The grocery store in town doesn’t really have much to support dining in. The two upstairs bedrooms are interconnected and only separated by curtains. That was fine for us as a single family but just something to be aware of. There also isn’t air conditioning (that I could see) but there are some fans to help circulate air during the warmer evenings. We found out a little too late that the host has alternative coffee options besides a nespresso machine, so be sure to ask if you don’t care for that particular coffee type! Lastly, we found the beds comfortable but could have used some lower loft pillows for our sleep needs.But we enjoyed this little spot and would recommend it for others who might be enjoying a short stay in Salema.

Wir hatten einen perfekten Aufenthalt im Ferienhaus Casa Saudade. Das Haus ist wunderschön und sehr gut ausgestattet. Auch die Lage im alten Teil von Salema und die Nähe zum Strand haben uns sehr gut gefallen. Vielen Dank an Peter für die vielen guten Tips zu Restaurants und Unternehmungen! Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können das Ferienhaus uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.
