Hotel was not as described. Amenities were old. Not like what I saw in the pics. Living room is right by the front door of the hotel room. So, any traffic coming in or out of the room has to go right by the person or persons sleeping in the master bedroom. Plus any traffic going by your room seems to be amplified. Very hard to sleep when people that are partying are running up and down the hall like they were when I was there. Multiple times intoxicated guests came to my room thinking it was their room or someone else's room or they might have been checking to see if the door was unlocked to rob the place. After sundown, Virginia Beach turned into a third world country. There were cops on every corner of the main strip not because something happened but to prevent something from happening. People were running in the streets Wild! I saw numerous fights throughout my stay there on the street and one actually in the hotel. The hotel would probably be nicer if they had security to actually secured things. Virginia Beach overall is a horrible place to bring your family. I travel and vacation quite a bit. This was definitely the worst beach stay I have ever experienced. 10 years ago. It was much better, Now it is 💩. A beach that is around the same price range and not too far. I would suggest Myrtle Beach. Much more to do therewith friends and or family and a whole lot nicer! 😁 Excuse any typos, I did voice to text while I was driving out of that 💩 hole 😂

I am very sorry you had a bad experience in Virginia Beach and didn't enjoy your stay, but the point of the reviews on VRBO are to review the resort/room, not Virginia Beach as a whole. I had 5 other families/guests at this resort during the same dates/time and all of them had no issues and gave Barclay 5 stars and enjoyed their stay. I am honestly not sure what you mean by hotel is not as described.... It is not a brand-new resort, and it was not described as that or does it state that in the listing. The pictures are from 3 weeks ago that I personally went and took at the resort, so those are recent pictures. The resort is working on getting security again (they always have had it but just like all staff at the resorts, keeping people that want to work has proved hard since Covid) but I have not had any guests have any issues with safety. I think you meant the bedroom is at the front door as the living room isn't and has the balcony/patio off it. There are always cops at the oceanfront area to make sure people stay safe, etc. but it was spring break this past week so that is probably why there were more cops and issues in the area but that is not the norm for this area. I know because I live here and have lived here for over 30 years. Also, as far as the issues with other guests, you should have complained at the front desk so they could address this issue with the guests you are referring too, they don't want to have guests disturbing other guests and could have addressed the issue. When I have guests at the resort and they have issues that are brought to the resort's staffs’ attention, they notify me about them, and I never heard anything in reference to issues with your stay until I saw this review. Again, I am very sorry you didn't have a good experience and I will bring up the issues you stated with the management staff on site at the resort (obviously only ones that they have any control over).

Couldn't check in until after 6pm. Pool was great! Location is perfect! View is perfect! I go to VB multiple times a year and Barclay is the best! The timeshare was even better as it has a full size refrigerator. We had a blast!

Nice place, good location but poor service

Service is not great took two days to get clean towels brought to our room. When they were brought to my room I had two different people drop them off. Their is no broom or vacuum to clean the sand up.

I am sorry for your experience. This is a timeshare resort so they do have washer and dryers in the resort so you can clean towels, wash clothes, etc. in case you can't get them. All resorts are still short staffed because people don't want to work and they are trying to do their best to keep up. Most resorts don't supply new towels daily, they only have 1 towel exchange during the week, so I am not sure if you were requesting towels daily or what but that is no the norm that you get new towels daily like you are at a hotel, timeshare resorts are not the same. Sorry you felt it was poor service but the resorts are doing the best the can with what they have.

Perfect Location!

The property was as I expected. It was a little dated but for the price and location it wasn't a bother. Had everything we needed and also had a great view. The location is perfect. The quiet end of the boardwalk. The two complaints I have is that the bedroom was on the hall side of the condo therefore we heard everything that went on outside of our door. We had a second to end unit and we didn't even have to deal with anyone except the two families we were in between and it was loud. No sound barrier on that front. Second I feel timeshare rentals take backseat to the rooms considered hotel guest. If you think you are going to get a great parking spot out front of the resort because you are timeshare affiliate think again. That is for hotel guests. Timeshares must go across the street at a crowded 6 floor garage. We were lucky to get a spot on the roof. Oh and they have signs put up in multiple places letting you know if you are timeshare and you park in the good spots you will get towed. But don't let those two things deter you. I was just pointing out what to expect. I would stay here again.

The room should have been cleaned before you got in there, they don't do daily housekeeping, they only clean the unit before you come in and when you leave. Of course because of covid they limit towel exchange during the week etcetera but this isn't a hotel it is a timeshare so they only clean units before and after as they are weekly ownerships. We definitely don't advertise that these are cleaned daily as timeshare resorts don't work that way. Sorry if you misunderstood that!

It was okay...

The property was dingy and very much in need of an update. The furniture was stained; the chair was broken; the carpet was old and worn. We were on the first floor and many cans, clothing and miscellaneous items were consistently falling (or being dropped) from the upper floors. The hotel staff was receptive and prompt with any request we had. They went out of their way to help and make our stay comfortable.
