Very disappointing hotel

Pour : The location The bar and the restaurant (very nice diner !) The staff is very helpful
Contre : Cleanliness of rooms The outdoor swimming pool
Emplacement : Blenheim Palace Oxford
La chambre sentait le moisi et la salle de bain était très vétuste notamment la plomberie. Un nid de guêpes était juste au dessus de notre fenêtre, elle-même recouverte de toiles d'araignées. La piscine était vide alors qu'elle paraît superbe sur le site internet !

Having seen the previous reviews, we were unsure what to expect. Yes, parts of the hotel need updating, but we had a lovely big room with a river view. It was clean and tidy, plenty if storage and a beautiful bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we enjoyed the freshly cooked breakfast. On the whole we thought it was good value for money and will stay again.

Tired and non existent wifi

Not brilliant. The WiFi kept dropping out which made it impossible to do any work. The tv gave up the ghost and had no reception after an hour. Loads of plastic miniatures of nice toiletries but really not green! Nor was the fan heater plugged in in the room as there was no radiator. Clean and serviceable but pretty tired and don’t try and access the internet! Breakfast was great

Comfortable stay in a lovely area

Comfortable, warm room and great shower. Decor / carpets in hall and surroundings a tad dated and shabby. Good breakfast and polite, helpful service

Pleasant & friendly staff.

Just a 1 night stop over while working in the area. All hotel staff were very friendly and the service for food and drinks was warm and welcoming. The hotel in general looked clean but a little dated in decor, same in the room. The room was spacious but no light shades and curtain hanging off don't give great impressions. Evening meal was good and nice size portion (even though I'm not one for eating off wooden boards), don't they have plates in Oxford lol. All in all with its lovely location and with a good makeover it would be a lovely hotel. Hopefully will return sometime.

We have been working hard to bring our beautiful hotel back to top form, and we are getting there. That said, the problems with your room have been addressed, and i assure you, if/when you return, if you would prefer a plate, please ask the serving staff. The property is in a very poor state of repair, the carpets are minging and the room cleaning and servicing was almost non existent. The food was good, largely and the bar service was very good. But there is no lift and some very tricky staircases, so not good for anyone with mobility challenges.

We are very sorry that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. I would advise to contact the hotel in advance to request a ground floor room if you have mobility issues. unfortunately on the night you arrived we had a full house and all of the ground floor rooms had already checked in so i really couldn't move you anywhere on the ground floor. We did however upgrade you to a riverview suite with a walk in shower and roll top bath in a part of the building where there was a wider staircase to the room. The room servicing was carried out before you arrived and then once during your two night stay. Apologies, if you felt the room needed more. Glad you enjoyed the food and bar service. Unfortunately this is an old hotel and there is no lift. this information is freely available on Expedia, but we apologize for your inconvenience.
