Many complaints about this property. Our unit was Penthouse which was very hot. 105 degrees in DC. Maintenance made attempt to cool unit down but the air conditioning could not keep up with the heat coming through the windows. Manager did offer another unit, because it was another 2 night stay, we decided to stay put. A 500.00 charge was put on my credit card at checkout. I had already paid for stay through Travelocity. I made many phone calls to Sonder to dispute my charge. Despite sending them proof of my payment through Travelocity, Sonder would not refund my money. I finally went to my credit card company and filed a complaint. For this reason I would not recommend this property. Once you check out, they are not willing to work with you if you have any issues or concerns. Despite these issues, loved the area, great restaurants and had a really good time. I generally like to give good reviews but I was very disappointed in the way Sonder treats their customers. I use Travelocity for all my travels and have never had a problem till this trip to DC. Will not be booking any Sonder property in the future or recommend this company.

The hotel is old,but they renew it, or tried to do it. The workers were friendly and helpful. Everything you needed, you could ask and they helped you, but you could find towels, soaps, washing soup and .... there..the gym was nice and big.. a lot of places for walking, dining, bicycling and.... also dafe.... people walked around and for us was joyful... coffeeandtea alwayswere ready.... we loved it... but sometimes you could see a bug around.... the doors needed update. The code for the first room didn't work. We got to the reception, they gave us new code, but room was occupied!!! Then they changed the room. It didn't have sofa bed!! The third one was complete!!! The next day when we woke up, we realized the windows don't have curtains.... So many lights.... But after we reported, they tried to fix it..... Overall, this hotel may have had some problems, but it had very polite and kind staff who resolved the problems as quickly as possible....

This place has a lot of promise, but it came up short in cleanliness and condition. There was hair on the floor of the bathroom, large smudges on the sliding glass door, the patio furniture was disheveled, and there was cigarette butts on the patio. The most recent renovations to this place were poorly done.

The apartment was spacious but was very hot in the living room area due to the sun shining into the room. With the AC on the bedrooms got very cold and the AC had to be risen to make them comfortable.

We stayed in room 701 top floor. The room is very spacious and remodeled. Nice big bathroom with jacuzzi. Love the fully equipped kitchen, we cook breakfast everyday 😊 If you don't want to cook and prefer to eat out, there are restaurants within 1 block. The bed is very comfy and with a bonus view of the city. We can see Georgetown university from our bedroom window. Pleasantly surprised that we also have a balcony with a sitting area. Good Wifi and laundry facility on site. The place is quiet and a block away to the waterfront with its numerous restaurants and movie theater. We either Uber or used a scooter or walked. Everything is within walking distance. Will definitely stay here again when we come back to DC. It's a great place with a great price 😊 We stayed a week.

Great, up market location.

Dangerous and unacceptable practice

Horrible. My Room entry code didn’t work when I returned to my room at 10:00pm. No front desk person on site and no number to call for help. Just a sign with a QR code that didn’t work. We were locked out for over 30 minutes until my son was able to download a digital key. This was dangerous and unacceptable. What if my phone died. I would have need out on the street.

I wish they would have told us that there wasn’t going to be air conditioner for one whole day out of our 3 night stay. They literally emailed me to notify me the day before arrival. If I had known this I would have booked somewhere else. It was the hottest day here with no air and we didn’t have any where to go to keep cool. My son ended up getting sick with heat exhaustion. Our toilets didn’t work half the time. My husband had to keep fixing it til we got tired of it and only used one of the bathroom. I would not ever stay here again.

I recently stayed at Sonder Georgetown and had one of the most frustrating hotel experiences in my years of business travel. Before my stay, I completed the full payment through Sonder’s official payment link and received an approval confirmation from my credit card company for $530 USD. I even shared the authorized transaction details and screenshots with the Sonder team multiple times. Despite this, the hotel claimed they could not locate the payment in their system and demanded a second payment, threatening to lock me out of my room if I didn't comply. They literally locked the door, leaving me unable to access my personal belongings in the middle of a business trip. Out of necessity, I paid again to continue my stay. It's been over a week, and no refund or proactive communication has been made regarding the clearly duplicated charge. Their internal payment issue became my burden, and I had to spend time and energy proving my own payment while being treated like a delinquent guest. This kind of disrespectful, unprofessional treatment is unacceptable—especially for guests who prepay and communicate in good faith. I will never stay at a Sonder property again, and I strongly caution others, especially international travelers, to think twice before booking.
