Very good

Older, with charming historical character. Room is plenty big with nicely updated bathroom. Quite convenient to the White House and the McPherson metro station. Staff are very helpful.
I can honestly say this is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Some staff were polite and respectful and some were not!
The mattress had a plastic cover which makes for a sweaty sleep along with the noise outside which is loud and intrusive at night. My complaint regarding “lost” belongings in the hotel was handled poorly and it was suggested by a female staff member that “ I was not telling the truth and they didn’t know what to believe”. This was completely unprofessional and unsympathetic conduct. I was also informed that their security cameras were “ not visible” whatever that means. The room was very clean but stuffy. I would not recommend this hotel for more than a night if at all but I guess you get what you pay for.
This is a cool older hotel. It has some quirks, but lots of charm. One issue in the 7th floor bathroom: There's not a separate light from the noisy fan. It makes it difficult to listen to the TV news while you're getting ready in the morning. Small things. But the location is superb in downtown Washington. They also could use some complimentary coffee downstairs.
The room was small but livable and looked clean. The air quality was unbearable with the deodorizer. (Fabreeze or similar) We were in the room for less than an hour and left. It was midnight and didn't feel like arguing and just left. As some of the other comments suggested and I didn't believe it, to check in, you had to interrupt the front desk person who was outside getting high.
