DETAILS: Nestled in the quiet community of Ptarmigan Village is this beautiful 5-bedroom, 4-bathroom Cottonwood home that sleeps 12. Enjoy various community amenities, including an indoor saltwater swimming pool, outdoor hot tub, a dry sauna, and a playground next door. Located on the slopes of Big Mountain, the resort’s Express Chairlift is only a 7-minute drive away. With 3,447 square feet of living space, guests love having multiple balconies, 2 large soaking tubs, and an open loft.

Cathedral ceilings, large windows, and warm wood floors greet guests as they enter the heart of this 3-story retreat. Packed with all the comforts of home, the open home blends the kitchen, dining, and living areas for seamless communication between spaces. A finely appointed living area provides warmth and comfort with a stacked stone fireplace and plush furnishings—perfect for unwinding after an adventurous day. Play a board game or enjoy a home-cooked meal in the well-lit dining area with seating for 6. The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped with high-end appliances, gorgeous countertops, and an island that seats 2 sous chefs for meal prep.

Downstairs provides comfort and convenience for friends and family, with three bedrooms and a full-sized washer and dryer in the laundry room. This floor is a guest bedroom featuring a queen bed, large windows with great views; attached to this bedroom is a bunk room with a twin-over-twin with a bathroom; perfect for families with children. There is an equally inviting bedroom with a queen bed with a detached bathroom..

Upstairs on the third floor, guests will find the remaining two bedrooms. One primary bedroom boasting a king bed with a private bathroom featuring a large soaking tub. It also features a guest bedroom with a queen bed with an additional detached bathroom boasting a second soaking tub. There is an open loft area with a sleeper sofa for last-minute guests. 

Cottonwood provides all the comforts needed for an extraordinary Montana stay. This property has ample room for many. Wood burning fireplace and pellet stove made warm and cozy after a long ski day. I would stay here again in a heart beat.

The house was great for our 2 families. The adults slept upstairs and the 4 teenagers downstairs. It was very roomy and the kitchen was fully stocked. The ski resort is only 7 minutes away and downtown whitefish is really wonderful with lots of shops and restaurants. They even cleaned the walkway for us when it snowed!

Great place to stay with large groups. Lots of room and large common areas. It is well supplied with aĺl the basic needs for your stay. We enjoyed time with family having meals together, relaxing on the porch, and playing games in the large family room. Whitefish is a great town for shopping and dining, it is also an easy drive to other areas of interest. We spent time hiking, biking, swimming, going to Flathead Lake and Glacier National Park.

Family vacation

Cabin was beautiful! Bedrooms all good sized for 5 adults. The kitchen is completely stocked with great cookware, variety of spices, coffee, filters, lots of extras. Ryan the caretaker was very nice and super friendly. His little dog “ Bea” is very friendly too. It was a wonderful vacation!

Beautiful cabin with amazing views. Close to hill but not ski-in or ski-out. Was perfect for our 2 families, everyone was comfortable & large dining table was perfect for everyone to eat at & play cards after dinner. Enjoyed our stay. Note that driveway is extremely steep, narrow & can be icy.

Woodland Retreat

Wonderful large lodge home with plenty of room for our group of 7. We loved the open great room with cozy fireplace. The kitchen offered plenty of room and was fully equipped. The outdoor decks offered a quiet place to relax amongst the trees. All of the bedrooms were comfotable and large. We enjoyed the clubhouse with pool and fantastic outdoor hot tub and patio. You couldn't ask for better accommodations. I have been traveling to Whitefish and Glacier NP for years for the natural beauty of the mountains and numerous hiking trails. Such a great location with a short drive into town and 30 minutes from West Glacier.

Great home for our large party of 10! Our only issue was that the house didn't have air conditioning and we happened to be there when temps were in the 90s. I realize that's probably not normal but just an FYI if you are there in the summer. I'm also not blaming the owner - it's our fault for not realizing that to be the case. Otherwise it was great for us; the amenities are great and the resort being so close was awesome as well. Even in the summer, it was a great place to visit and soclose for us to visit Glacier. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful property.

Beautiful mountain home

This house was amazing! We had 2 families stay in the home for a ski vacation. We particularly loved that the bedrooms were on different floors than the main gathering areas (living area and kitchen). Everything was updated and immaculate. Bonus, the house was decorated for Christmas! We have never rented during the holidays when the house had a decorated Christmas tree! A very nice touch to an already cozy home. Highly recommend this rental. The drive to the mountain was approximately 10 minutes.

Winter Wonderland Vacation!

The home itself was ideal, and it definitely felt like we were in a winter wonderland cabin with great amenities. That said, there was some initial trouble getting into the house with the touchpad keyless entry and being unable to reach anyone about it for quite some time. However, the property management folks were very apologetic and compensated us for the inconvenience. Our only other complaint was some sort of bug infestation in the master bedroom. It was sprayed, although that did not immediately resolve the issue, which was very unfortunate.

Misleading listing

The listing implied that it could sleep 12 people. I guess that was true, but I incorrectly assumed it also meant the 10 of us staying would be able to take hot showers. Unfortunately, the hot water would only support about two to three showers a day. I notified the management company and they said a technician would be sent out but I never heard from or saw anyone in the 8 days we stayed.

This stay was just ok compared to previous rental experiences and I think it has a lot to do with it being managed by a company vs property owners being more involved. Pros:Great amount of space for our family group of 10. Tons of games and puzzles to keep kids of varying ages entertained. Great starter supplies and selection of seasonings/spices on the kitchen. Cons:Listing is confusing on the bathroom situation. There are four full baths. Two on the third floor with tub/shower combo and two on the bottom floor with just showers. We were left wondering if it was three full baths with a half bath until we got there. No bath on second floor, where common spaces are. A lot of stairs, especially if you’re staying on the third floor. Water heater mentioned in another review months ago has still not been remedied. We had to space out showers and discuss it every day for everyone to get warm showers. The place needs some general TLC. It’s clean, but in need of repairs. Mainly windows. Temps were mild while we were there and the top floor got hot! We could only open half the windows up there due to either being broken or not having a screen. Broken towel hooks, doors and knobs that need adjusting, etc. Side note: expect to pay at least 25 if you leave something behind. That’s Natural Retreats minimum shipping fee, no matter size of the item apparently.

Ptarmigan village

We enjoyed our stay in Ptarmigan village. The house itself was gorgeous. The location is great - close to both Whitefish and Big Mountain. We used the Villages’ pool and hot tub daily, and appreciated the private beach access on Whitefish Lake. The only downside was loud dogs barking early in the morning next door. Overall would highly recommend this property!

Perfect for family reunion

We travel every year and have never stayed at a home with such a complete kitchen. Didn't even need to bring our slow cooker. The rooms are furnished exactly as pictured and very clean. With 4 families totaling 11 people, there was room for all of us to eat at the large table. Yet with many rooms and balconies, we could spread out comfortably. Thank you for opening your home to us. Nobody was ready to leave at the end of our 5 days.

Perfect Whitefish Mountain Escape!

Great location on the Hill, so close to the ski resort and easily accessible to town. We were a group of old friends looking to get together for the first time since the pandemic started and this was the perfect place. Large enough to spread out but intimate and perfect for spending time together. Would love to come again!

The property was more than l expected, beautiful.

Our family loved the property. Would recommend this property to others. Only down fall is that it is a little far from the park.

Great Spot!

Very clean place, a little far from town but was advertised accurately! I would certainly stay here again. Loved Whitefish.
