Quality hotel, very central

Modern look to foyer and rooms. Pool being renovated too but didn’t affect our stay. Central to York for all attractions. Would stay again if needed to be in York.

Nice hotel but needs some TLC in the rooms

The hotel itself was lovely and the open plan reception and bar area was comfortable and warm. The staff were pleasant though some of them didn’t seem sure how to work things like the till and we were undercharged for a round of drinks which the bar woman then demanded I pay when I returned for more drinks as if this was my fault somehow. But all in all it was a good stay. The room itself was ok but the toilet was tiny and difficult to get in and out of without squeezing against the wall as you opened or closed the door and there were a few things that didn’t work - usb sockets next to the bed, a lamp from one side of the bed that was missing and there was just a hole where it was once fixed and the other was loose, the fridge in the room looked like it was meant to be in a cupboard and there was a cupboard with a large hole in the bottom and a wonky door I can only assume was for a previous fridge. On the 2nd night the tv stopped working. It reset itself to 1st Jan 2023 and even the guy from reception couldn’t get it working admitting that “I’ve not had any training on these new smart TV’s and neither has the maintenance guy”. He repeatedly switched it on and off but it wouldn’t connect to any service. He offered us some free drinks vouchers for the inconvenience but when I asked at reception the next day, they knew nothing about them. We were checking out that day anyway but it would’ve been nice to have been offered a coffee or something whilst we were waiting to leave.

Quiet, comfortable and well located

Comfortable, quiet and ideally located for the event we were attending at York Barbican. Easy to get to by road too.

Bath was dirty and full of hair. 1 towel was used and covered in hair and make up. Shower screen was dirty. Carpet around the bin was covered in stains which looked awful. Bedside light was broken and hanging by the wire.
