Went on a river trip down the Rivanna with my two brothers and son. This hotel was recommended by the river guide. We enjoyed the service, the beds are super comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful.
We had to have a room after the river trip so ended up booking again
Coffee was so watered down it was nearly clear. We were promised, and paid for, coffee -- 24x7 -- is it too much to ask for the coffee to actually have some coffee in it? Did the owner think we wouldn't notice?
Breakfast offered fewer choices than expected at a Hampton, but overall was tolerable. "Orange Juice" was false advertising however -- "Pale Orange Liquid" is more accurate. As with watering down the coffee -- does the owner think we're so stupid that we won't notice or care how cheaply we're being treated as paying customers?
The bathroom sink oddly had the hot water on the right, but then the even hotter water on the left. Delightfully thirst-quenching.
How did that make it past the inspection? (The what?) How has it not been fixed by now?
And having to put down a security deposit is just downright insulting. Never had that happen before at a hotel that wasn't in a war zone. I actually should have had the hotel give *me* a deposit -- in case they cheated me out of what I paid for.
Note to the owner: if you're so bankrupt, greedy, or timid that you have to stoop to these levels to squeeze out an extra buck, maybe you ought not be in the hotel business -- which is after all a "service" business.
Clean and quiet place to stay, yes, but at the fringes it's an insult to the Hampton brand.
I went because of my Brother’s viewing. So it wasn’t for pleasure. This place was new and very nice. The only issue we had was the hot water heater was down and had the take cold showers
The place was very clean and neat. The Staff was very help. It would be very hard to find something to complain about. Maybe the rates could be better during the winter months.
Hampton Inn By Hilton Gordonsville is a newer property. I stayed 2 nights in Jan 2025. The king bed room was spacious and comfortable with all the amenities you would expect. My only concern was the lack of hot water in the shower. The bathroom sink had great hot water. I tried letting the sink run for a bit then retried the shower - no change. However, the countertop was soaked with water (maybe from the base of the faucet?). I asked for maintenance to take a look at both issues. The sink faucet worked fine after their visit. The next morning, I tried the shower with no luck again. I reported the issue to the front desk as I checked out. Her response was, "would you like a receipt?"
Not the way I think the company would prefer her to respond.
The hotel was clean. The room temperature was cold, even after increasing the thermostat temperature. The breakfast was tasty and the hotel staff were friendly.
