I will start with the one good thing. It is very close to Ueno park. Now for the bad. The rooms are extremely small. It was the smallest hotel I had stayed at in japan. For two people with luggage it was very cramped. The first room they gave us smelled like the sewer. Luckily there was one other room available. Unfortunately this room was right next to a giant blue neon sign and the curtains in the room did not keep all the light out, plus it was almost at street level so we could hear everything happening on a very busy street. And this last thing is what really did it for me. There were no extra pillows. The pillows in the room are tiny and uncomfortable so I asked the front desk for an extra and apparently they ran out of pillows. Honestly book somewhere else and save yourself the disappointment.

The hotel itself was really clean and the housing staffs were kind. I think there was a ‘snack bar’, I think it’s a kind of karaoke which serves alcohol? 3 nights out of 4 there was someone singing overnight and it was really terrible. Other than that, it was a great experience.

If you are a light sleeper, I would not recommend definitely can hear everything from outside. If you like, drinking plenty of bars around the area and clubs if you’re into that stuff. Hotel is clean and the staff are great and helpful.

Our stay was perfect! We stayed in a Queen Suite top floor of the Annex. It was perfect for a family of 4. We had plenty of room and we really enjoyed the location. The hotel is a close walk to Ueno Station, Ueno Zoo, many amazing restaurants. We will stay again.
